Trust us, we know how busy parenthood is. It might feel like you never get to spend time just one-on-one with your partner, and even if you can find a babysitter, the cost of taking a night out for just the two of you can be off-putting.

It turns out that a massive 77% of couples feel that their relationship has been strained after having children. Additionally, nearly a quarter (23%) of parents stated that intimacy has reduced since having children and two thirds (66%) of couples believe that quality time with their significant other has reduced.

Couples were also asked how they most enjoyed spending time together before they had their children. One in ten (10%) couples said they loved going to concerts and gigs, 19% enjoyed holidays together while a third of couples (31%) said that they loved going to the cinema. Unsurprisingly, most parents (40%) opted for the classic dinner date with their loved one.

As part of our Looking After Mums and Dads campaign, we want to help mums, dads, parents and guardians take a break and enjoy an evening of good food and quality time together.

We’ll cover the cost of eating out at some top restaurants such as Pizza Express, Zizzi and Cafe Rouge for 50 couples from the Childcare.co.uk community. To apply, you must be a Childcare.co.uk member and have posted a babysitter job between 4th March and 31st March 2020. It's completely free to post a babysitter job.

“Children should see their parents spending and enjoying time together and this will help them know what a healthy relationship looks like and we all want our children to have a fulfilling relationship. Parenting is really hard work, whether you are up to your arms in nappies and bottles, dealing with toddler tantrums or even tweens going through the slamming door stage. We need a break. Do something that is about you as an individual and not about you as a parent. You will feel better for it and come back to parenting refreshed!”

To be eligible to apply you must be a UK resident and Childcare.co.uk member at the time of entering. 50 parents who have posted a babysitter job between 4th March and 31st March on Childcare.co.uk will be picked at random and sent a £50 ‘The Restaurant Choice’ gift card that can be used at national restaurant locations, more info at www.restaurantchoice.co.uk. Successful applicants are responsible for booking their dinner date which must be before 31st December 2020. The restaurant gift card is non-transferable. Successful couples will be notified by email by the 10th April.
