Jane is an extraordinary childminder.
We found Jane through a recommendation and choosing Jane to look after our son from 1yo is the best decision we’ve ever made.
Jane is amazing in so many ways but I will pick out some:
One of Jane's most remarkable qualities is her ability to foster a love of learning and exploration. Each day is filled with a diverse range of activities, from music lessons and playgroups to outdoor adventures and creative crafts.
Her commitment to providing enriching experiences is evident in the way she engages with the children, encouraging their curiosity and imagination.
Beyond her dedication to child development, Jane has a remarkable ability to create a warm and nurturing environment. The children adore her, and their affection is palpable in the way they greet her each morning with hugs and smiles. It's heartwarming to witness the genuine bond she forms with each child.
I remember speaking to another parent explaining that we had a bumpy weening road pre Jane and it was so difficulty to get our son to eat anything or feed himself.
Within the first week Fred was happily feeding himself with a spoon and eating food he would have never taken from us.
The other parent agreed and said ‘well Jane is the Roger Federer of the childminding world, you just don’t get any better’
That comment really stuck with me.
We are incredibly fortunate to have found Jane. She is not only a superb childminder but also a compassionate and caring individual who has become an integral part of our family's life.
Thank you Jane!
We were lucky enough to meet Jane though a friend so when my youngest came along it was an absolute no brainer that he would start at 11 months old with Jane when I went back to work.
Fast forward over 5 years and I have only just managed to prise him away from the last afternoon we had kept in place for continuity after starting school.
Jane is an absolute gem and so natural with both babies and young children. She is kind, patient, calm and never gets flustered. She guides and supports the children (and the parents too) through all stages of their development, the good as well as the bumpy bits. The children grow and learn to be independent, respectful and confident in their abilities in a safe and warm environment.
Jane has a good network with other local childminders which offers important social development as the children get older.
The houseboat environment the children get to spend time in is idyllic. From watching ducks and swans paddle past the window to sunny lunches on the rear deck of the boat. All ages gather round the communal table at mealtimes with the babies watching and learning from the older children. There is a real sense of ‘family’ in the setting.
One of the most important things for me was that Jane has always seemed to enjoy her job (few can say that), spending time with the children and watching them develop.
I did not surprise me one jot that she was awarded an Ofsted rating of Outstanding.
Throughout our time with Jane I have never known a family that hasn’t been delighted with her care for their children and everyone is reluctant to leave when the time comes.
My son’s morning call of “Yay it’s a Janey day” is testament to how much she has meant to him.
Choosing Jane as a childminder is one of the best decisions we’ve made as parents.
I found her on the Borough of Hounslow website 11 years ago when my first baby- a daughter- was a few months old. Jane was our first choice then because of her experience with babies and toddlers. Her son (then 5) was the clincher because he was kind and sweet with our baby at the first meeting, which we took as a good sign.
As soon as our daughter started - and our baby son followed a few years later- we realised there was much more to love: the activities and outings she arranges, the wider community she’s a part of and friends our kids made, the healthy food she cooks and manners she instills, her appreciation of nature, the adventures of boat life, the crafting projects she initiates, the guidance though every development stage and, most importantly, her own kindness and calm patience.
Jane, her family and the magical boat became such an important part of our kids’ (and our) lives that they continued with Jane for after school care. Now my daughter has started secondary school it’s finally time to stop the formal arrangement, but we’ll still visit as Jane is hard to leave. We couldn’t recommend her more highly.
Jane is Chiswick's best kept secret. She is honestly the best childminder I could ever have asked for. My daughter was with her from ages 2-4 and my son has been with her since he was 4 months old (he's now 2 years' old). She is brilliant with all ages: always calm, always cheerful, but firm and fair. The children all come away with impeccable manners, and they ADORE her. Every day is filled with activities in nature, music, arts, wonder. Her house is a magical boat on the river Thames with an idyllic garden. I could go on. I could not recommend her more.
