About Me
Hi My name is Karen I am married to John. We have two children our son is 25 and our daughter is 21 years old. We have lived in Bathgate for 22 years. We have a little dog called Levi who is really friendly and has a great nature. I have worked with children for the last 15 years and now my own children are older I feel it is time for me to do what I have always wanted to do, look after children and have more fun. I am registered with SCSWIS and I am a qualified Nursery Practioner My husband, son and daughter are fully disclosed and maybe around the house from time to time. I am a friendly caring person who would ensure your child is cared for to a high standard with lots of attention & cuddles if needed. My last inspection was June 2018 and I was graded a 5 for each category - very good.
My Experience
I am a qualified nursery practioner and have worked with babies, toddlers, pre-school and older children. I have many years experience working with many different nationalities as I worked & lived in Australia for 3 years. It has given me lots of experience working with different cultures & finding out lots of interesting information. There will be lots of outdoor play as well as indoor play as I think this is really important for the children. I feel it is also important for the children to be engaging with other children and sharing activities, ideas with each other. I would work closely with the child's parents to ensure I am meeting their expectations and would take on board any suggestions you have or any activities you would like me to do with your child.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified nursery nurse, I have my Certificate III in Children's Services. I have my First Aid, Anaphylaxis, CPR, Control of Infection, Child Protection, Food Hygiene, Active Supervision of Children, GIRFEC Certificates. I have also completed my scqf level 7. I work with West Lothian Council and can accommodate funded hours for nursery children age 3-5
My Availability
I have full-time & part-time vacancies Monday - Thursday Hours are 7am - 5.15pm from June 2024. I will be as flexible as I can and help out anytime if extra hours are required.

Our 2 year old has been going to Karen for 5 months now since we moved into the area and her service is brilliant. Our little boy is very happy there, and Karen made the transition very easy and comfortable for us.
The daily activities are great, varied themes and lots of arts and crafts which is fab. The food offered is always varied and it’s a lifesaver not having to make a pack lunch every day! Karen is great at keeping us up to date with our little one’s day but also his development and skills.
Couldn’t find a better childminder in my mind!

Our 5 year old daughter has been going to Karen’s since August 2021. She has a lovely time there and is always coming home with brilliant art projects that she has done after school. She settled in really quickly and it’s great that she gets time with children of different ages.

My son has been with Karen now since Aug 2021, after moving a couple of times as we settled in the UK again moving back from Australia. There was an instant warmth and click with Karen. Her facilities, toys and support to my son is fantastic, and he is thriving. It was the better choice for us over a nursery and I love the fact that Karen is so involved in his educational and creative development too. They go on adventures, learn about all festivals and life events and he’s always so happy - gives Karen a big hug before we leave for the day.
Highly recommend.

My 2 daughters (4 years and 17 months) have been going to Karen's since October 2014 - they love it and have a brilliant time each week. We all felt at ease with Karen straight away and the girls settled really quickly. They have fun playing and doing different activities each week. My oldest particularly loves doing arts and crafts and enjoys using the great materials that Karen has. My youngest has a big smile when we arrive and I always look forward to reading their diary in the evening! I am delighted with their childcare and would recommend Karen to anyone - always cheery and wants to help in any way she can.

Karen is an absolutely brilliant childminder. My daughter has been with Karen since August 2014 and she loves going to "Karen's house". Right from the moment we walked in my daughter settled in due to the way Karen has with children. Karen provides lots of activities through out the day including arts & crafts, different toys and play activities, fun learning and going out to playgroups. Oh and my daughter loves Levi the dog too. Highly recommended :-)

Karen has been looking after Josh since July 2014 and he adores her, the family and little Levi. He loves going to Karen's house, groups, softplay and the park. Karen is always doing arts and crafts, singing songs and dancing with the kids. Josh settled very quickly with Karen as she immediately made him (and us) feel very comfortable. He goes to Karen's happy and comes home even happier! Couldn't have found a better childminder.

My little boy first went to Karen when he was only 8 months and he took to her straight away, she is brilliant with him always doing arts and crafts and taking him to little groups which he loves!! Karen has all the time in the world foe the kids and is fantastic with them, highly recommended!!
