My Summary
About Me
*MONDAY AND TUESDAY SPACE AVAILABLE FROM SEPTEMBER 2025*
Hello! my name is Amanda strong and I am an outstanding ofsted registered childminder living in longstanton ,cambridge. I am married to Pete and we have 3 children Joseph who is 23, Amelia 21 and Phoebe 17. All people over the age of 16 living here have been CRB checked. At my last three ofsted inspections- oct 2015, July 2018 and July 2024 I was graded OUTSTANDING.
I provide a warm, safe, welcoming home from home environment for the children I care for with a wide variety of resources and activities.I attend local toddler groups and provide cooking, craft and fun educational learning activities. We were involved in a project we piloted and set up successfully within a care home for 3 years back in 2016 where we took part in activities with the elderly residents.
We have a large garden for outdoor play and is a natural, curiosity type space for the children to enjoy, with a fairy garden, role play hut, exploration station for digging and nature, Water and sand play, small world play and a fantastic mud kitchen.
we love outdoor learning and the list is endless! We enjoy regular outings to different parks and other fun and educational places such as milton country park where we have enjoyed fishing, paddling and pond dipping. We visit National trust places and farms and go for lovely walks to explore the world around us.We have been Punting down the river and been on the open top bus around the city.We visit soft play, museums,Historic houses and love to introduce the children to the culture and diversity around us.We have had people in the community in to talk to the children from different professions and we have also taken part in lovely community projects and charity projects and continue to do so and now take part in our own forest school which the children really enjoy. We love the outdoor approach to learning. We encourage independence, and risk taking so children become strong independent learners.I work very closely with another childminder and my best friend of 32 years. We share a secure private page which only our parents can see and is closed to the public showing all the wonderful things we get up to during the week.We are all like one big extended family which is lovely and the children form strong bonds with each other.
We have secured our own allotment plot now for our children Where we will plant, grow, harvest and learn together.
I follow the EYFS and work in close partnership with parents to ensure all children's needs are being met.
My Experience
I have 30 years childcare experience and have been in the childcare field for a long time starting my training at harvey road day nursery and working in other nurseries along the way.
I then worked as a ward assistant on the paediatric ward of addenbrookes hospital for a year and a half giving me an insight into nursing.During this time i was offered a nanny job where the hours were better and it was with a local family.I was here for 3 and a half years also helping to run the local after school club alongside this.
I left here after finding out i was expecting my son.It was then when my son was about 11 months that i decided to go into childminding which i did for a good 5 years on and off until i was about to have my 3rd child.I then went back into it after a long break and have been doing it since 2010.

I wholeheartedly recommend Amanda; she is truly exceptional. Her dedication to caring for our little ones is unmatched. Amanda pours her heart and passion into creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for them.
She consistently goes above and beyond, planning and executing a wide range of engaging activities both indoors and outdoors. From visits to museums and farms to delightful painting sessions and imaginative role-playing at home, Amanda's commitment shines through in every detail. The result is an environment that not only stimulates our children but also radiates warmth and love.
Amanda has been looking after my children for over three years now. My eldest started with her in February 2011 and my youngest in October 2014. Amanda is professional and takes her responsibilities towards both my girls very seriously, however coupled with this is a friendly and enthusiastic approach to her work and to looking after my girls. Amanda provides a safe and secure home from home environment with plenty of stimulation, both girls have attended day trips out and visits to local toddler groups and local parks as well as benefitting from a range of craft and learning activities in Amanda’s home, and we regularly receive these mini masterpieces sent home! The rules and values I instil in them at home are reinforced at Amanda’s and the transition from home to Amanda’s and back again is smooth because of this and the communication between the two environments. Most importantly, both of my children love going to Amanda’s, they feel at home with her and have a special bond with both her and her family that takes a huge amount of pressure and worry off when I am at work.
Amanda has been looking after my son for the last 9 months since he was 6 months old. As a first time parent I was quite anxious about leaving my son to return to work but I really shouldn't have been. Amanda worked closely with me to arrange a settling in period that worked for us both. She was always on hand to answer any of my questions or concerns and really supported us both through this transition. Luckily enough my son settled really quickly and we all soon found a routine that worked well for everyone. When I was looking for a childminder I wanted to find an environment where my son would feel cared for and not just treated as a paying customer. Amanda, and indeed her whole family, have all become a part of my son's support network and it is clear he loves them all! Communication is ongoing but not obtrusive when I'm at work and Amanda gives me regular updates and progress reports on what they have been doing and any small developmental milestones. My son enjoys many trips, visits and outings with Amanda and always manages to create me an artwork masterpiece on those very special occasions us mothers savour. I spent a lot of time searching for childcare before my return to work and had very clear ideas about what I was looking for, and for us, the type of care that Amanda provides was above and beyond what we were hoping for.
Amanda was looking after my Daughter Isabella before she started school.
What can I say I would most definitely recommend Amanda as she is trustworthy, caring, kind, and very flexible.
Amanda provided hot meals so that was great knowing that was one less thing for me to do after a full day @ work.
Isabella made friends and loved arts and crafts, mostly dressing up...
Amanda cared for my youngest son between Sept 2010 and July 2012 and I cannot fault any part of her care of him. She was always very friendly and encouraged and praised him for his achievements, however small they were. Her organisational skills are second to none and she always communicated with us well, sharing what he had experienced each day. She provided a huge variety of activities; some educational and some just good plain fun! Each evening she provided good home cooked food (sometimes a bit of extra dessert came home with him for us!). We always felt she genuinely cared for our little boy and it was incredibly sad when he left her care as he was starting school.
It's important to know your children are well cared for when you can't be with them but Amanda cared for our son incredibly well and she and her family always made him and us welcome in their home. She's highly recommended by me!
