About Me

Hello, my name is Elena.

I have been working as a nanny for 30 years in both my native country Colombia and in the UK. I speak fluent English and Spanish. I hold a valid DBS, paediatric first aid certificate, postnatal infant care qualification and a completed course in Early Years Childcare for nurseries.

I am currently looking for a sole charge, Monday to Thursday or Friday role (25-30 hours a week), ideally looking after one or two children. I am looking for roles in West or Central London (Notting Hill, Holland Park, Kensington), as I live in West London and I am very familiar with these areas. I am looking to begin the role ASAP or in early January.

I am a dedicated, honest and reliable person. I can work well as part of a team; however I am also capable of working independently and taking the initiative. Communication is one of my best skills and I relate effectively with people of all ages, especially children. I take great pride in my ability to work efficiently, achieve targets and produce quality results, while being able to adapt to new environments with great ease. Part of my profession as a nanny has involved teaching the children Spanish. I thoroughly enjoy aiding their development and growth linguistically, mentally and nutritionally, while supporting their working parents.

An important aspect to mention is that I am very much in favour of structure and routine during the day, as it gives children the opportunity to follow a schedule and learn to understand discipline. I have years of experience in potty training, weaning and taking care of very young children, both as a mother to my 25 year old daughter and as a nanny, looking after children from 4 months onwards. Although it can be challenging, it is extremely rewarding and from my many years of experience, I have been able to develop special techniques that prove useful in settling young babies.

I thoroughly enjoy working with children and enjoy their company immensely. I would consider myself as a very active, enthusiastic nanny but also warm and loving. I love entertaining the children I look after, whether it be singing with them, dancing with them, playing with them or reading to them. As you may have already seen from my CV, I am a Spanish speaking nanny, so I would be able to aid your child in achieving competency in a foreign language. Other than simply speaking to the children in Spanish, I like to do this in creative ways like singing Spanish nursery rhymes, reading Spanish books and also attending Spanish classes or play groups.

I have excellent organisational and communication skills, which I consider vital when working as a nanny, not only when dealing with the children, but also with the parents and other nannies when organising outings.

Preparing nutritional meals for the children is one thing I consider really important. I myself follow a healthy, balanced lifestyle and naturally, I would want the children I am looking after to do so too. I would consider myself a very good cook (I prefer not to follow recipe books, as I love being creative and experimenting in the kitchen!) I am able to enthusiastically run errands and clean up after my own mess and any mess the child makes.
