My Requirements

We are a family of 4 living in Claygate, Surrey. Our nanny has accepted a different role outside of nannying but it’s on good terms, she’s been with us nearly 2 years. Prior to that we had the same Nanny-Housekeeper for 18 months but went on maternity leave and did not return. Both our current nanny & the prior one are available to speak to you & available to chat to anyone interested in applying.

Please keep reading as we have the potential to be flexible on our requirements.... For example we would consider an after school only nanny or before & after school nanny, we could consider someone looking for temporary work.

Our current set up with our current nanny-housekeeper is that she works 2 full days and 2 afternoons during term time and 3 fully days and 1 afternoon during school holidays. The hours are roughly speaking 7 am or 7.15 am - 7pm or 1pm - 7pm with some flexibility. During school holidays we rarely ask for a 7am or 7.15 start & we do not adjust pay, just allow a later start.

Our children are 9 girl & 17 boy. Our 17 year old really does not need much in the way of a nanny except the odd lift especially in holidays & some meals. The nanny part of our role is much more about our 9 year old. We are particularly interested in speaking to someone with teaching assistant or SEN experience as our daughter is dyslexic, has dyscalculia & ADD.

Nanny-housekeeping duties include these example items:-

helping kids get ready for school & breakfast
collect from school or bus
daily washing & ironing
Meal planning & ordering shopping
making kids meals daily or in bulk
once or twice a week meal making for the whole family
batch cooking meals
dishwasher
recycling
helping with reading
helping with homework
regular revision of things such as tricky words or timetables
keeping worktops tidy & wiping down
dry cleaning
collect & unpack shopping
sweep or hoover
Pack / unpack school bags, put sport kit to wash (sometimes needed next day)
Bath / shower youngest child
change beds, launder sheets
change towels
reorganising toys / pens / clothes
label uniform
take kids to dentist or similar
after school activities e.g. swimming
Make a packed lunch if needed
Wipe down tops after food preparation
Tidy away toys or games / puzzles or play doh.
Tidy out toys periodically. Go through wardrobes periodically looking for items too small etc
Help tidy out a drawer or cupboard - e.g. Tupperware or similar

Our current nanny-housekeeper is very flexible & helps with all sort of house things such as decorating for Halloween or Christmas. We have guinea pigs and our last two nannies help with feeding, cleaning out & vet visits or medicating. Other flexible items could include play-dates, cinema trips, days out during holidays & etc.

Pay is negotiable.

You must hold a UK driving license, with your own car & be DBS checked. Ofsted registered or willingness to become Ofsted registered required. If you don’t have your own car as a remote possibility for the right person we could source a car.

You do need some good references who can advocate for you.

We offer holiday pay & no requirement to work on bank holidays.

We are a busy family, but pretty laid back & relatively normal :-) . We have other nanny references in addition to our current nanny for you to chat to who can tell you what we are really like :-) ... we do have flexibility on many terms including days / hours so please get in touch if you think this could interest you.
