My Summary
Home From Home Setting.
About Me
Hi, my name is Val, I live in a 3 bedroom house in a quite cul-de-sac in Mytchett . I have lived here for 33 years with my 2 yr old dog Teddy who is a Shitzu. I have had him since 12 weeks and has been brought up with the children.
I have a grown up daughter and son who are 32/29 My daughter lives on her with her son and daughter and partner and my Son still lives at home.
I have a separate playroom and fully enclosed garden, and a nursery for babies and young children to sleep in.
My daughter is registered as my Assistant and I call upon her when needed.
We go to story time at the local library, toddler groups, feed the ducks, the park, walking the dog,Rushmoor Gymastics, soft play, walks in the woods.Other trips out will include farm visit s, the zoo, Garden club, beach ,bird world etc throughout the year.
At home I have a range of toys for babies upwards they will have access to the kitchen (will be supervised) where we will be cooking sensory play and having snacks and meals. There is art and craft, play dough, painting, dolls house, railway, farm, and many more things to keep your little one occupied. We do a lot of sensory play and have a tuff tray where we experiment with baked beans, dried pasta, rice, artificial snow, jelly, lentils, etc.
As a Childminder I can be flexible to the needs of families and children and with a higher adult to child ratio than many other non-domestic settings I am ideally placed to give the extra attention that some children particularly need. As a Childminder I can offer – a real home from home environment, not a simulated one. Whether real or simulated it has been proven that the homely environment is one in which our youngest children thrive.
My Experience
I have worked as a nanny for 5 years, and worked in several nurseries, for 4 years where I looked after babies from 3 mths to young children up to there 5th birthday. I was a dinner lady at the local school, and went on to help inside the school, listening to children read, help in reception, and give extra support to children with additional needs. I then went on to be a childminding assistant for 3 years, looking after babies from 6mths to 10 years. I have also worked on a children's ward in a hospital in the playroom.
I also gained experience from having my own two children who both have additional needs. Who are now grown up . My daughter has her own flat and my son is still living at home, but is a supervisor at Dunhelm. In all I have been in the childcare profession for over 31 years.

Val has looked after our little boy since he was 9 months old, when I returned to work in March 2020. Unfortunately due to us relocating to another part of the country, we are now having to part ways, but I would highly recommend Val and her services to any other families looking for a childminder. She has a great approach with the kids - our son is always excited at drop off (no tears, ever!!) and is straight through the door with barely a second glance!! She is super caring but also firm, and has been incredible in managing everything from Covid (which happened 1 week into me returning to work!) to changes in routines, illnesses, etc.
Val uses the BabyDays app to record what happens through the day, so for peace of mind I know if he's eaten, napped, etc. She also regularly sends pictures and updates through the day which I love. Every day is different, and no matter the weather she always gets the kids out for walks and play. She has a great setting, both indoors (big play room, etc.) and outdoors - a big garden with slides, sand pit, water play, a mud garden, etc. As well as this, she has guinea pigs and a gorgeous little puppy that the children are obsessed with (and only introduced to as & when everyone is comfortable).
Val makes a huge effort for events and occasions, such as Christmas, Birthdays, Halloween, Mothers/Fathers Days, etc. and also makes occasional cards and gifts for extended family such as the grandparents, which always puts us in the good books!
She provides fresh, nutritious food every day, and bakes regularly with the kids. They have music and dance sessions which are adorable, as well as messy play, reading, and all the usual activities that you could think of. Through the first lockdown when Val was forced to close in line with Government guidelines, she sent an activity pack for us, including books, flash cards, sensory activities, colouring packs, etc. She has had to adapt massively this year, finding new activities to do due to parks/farms/zoos etc being shut, but she always seems to keep them busy and entertained no matter what!
This was our first occasion of using a childminder, and I was a little worried at first about whether our son would be happy, or clingy (especially after the early Covid shutdown when he was home with just us for a long period of time), but honestly it's been the best decision for him to ease him into a childcare setting gently, and given us the comfort and peace of mind knowing he is settled, happy and safe. Thank you Val, you've been absolutely wonderful and we will all miss you so much!

Our daughter started with Val at 8 months old and has enjoyed every minute! We wanted a child minder instead of a nursery as we wanted a more homely environment and we were not disappointed!
Val always stimulates the children with excitng trips out or interesting home based activities. The mud kitchen is a particular favourite!
Val has gone above and beyond in terms of providing extra resources for learning. Our daughter is half French and Val has provided lots of multilingual resources for her to learn from.
Val is very flexible and has made every effort to fit around our work schedule. Val has taken brilliant care of our daughter and always lets us know if she is feeling under the weather.
Val provides a delicious home cooked meal for the chidren and approaches behaviour in a firm but fair manner.
We cannot recommend Val highly enough.

Val is an excellent childminder she goes above and beyond for the children she has. My son was 6 months old when he started going to Val and has been looking after my son for 2 years. We have never had any concerns leaving my son with Val she makes it a very easy transition for baby and for parents especially when 1st time mums are returning to work.
We opted for a childminder rather than a nursery. For the home from home experience. For my Son to have more 1 on 1 care. Which he gets well with Val.
They do endless of activites with Val. Cooking/baking, they help with all elements. Painting. Craft. Walking. Play parks. In summer they do a lot of garden play. She has taken my son to birdworld and legoland. Garden centres. She makes crafts for different holidays.
Val updates you through the day with pictures of what your little ones are getting up to. She is a very good photographer :)
She makes the children homely meals, which she makes for them of a lunch time and gives healthy snacks.
Val takes on your opinions on how your routine is at home and keeps well to that.
Val has been very flexible with our ever changing schedule, which has been very helpful and we couldn't be more grateful. If our son is ill she has informed us at the earliest opportunity and has comforted him until we are able to collect him.
Apart from a childminder she has become a very good friend and we will be very sad to have to move on from surrey. We will miss Val very much :)

Val gives a consistently high level of care to the children in her care, and provides a stimulating environment, the benefits of which, we have seen with our daughter.
Whether it be day trips to the seaside or Bird World, walks along the canal to feed the ducks or to the park, or rainy day games either at home or a local soft-play, our daughter has been engaged, stretched most importantly looked after.
With out reservation, we would recommend Val.

My son has been with Val for over a year now and is very happy there. We wanted him to be out and about and he certainly is! No two days are the same and they are always off on a new adventure. Having said that the children's routines are incorporated so they are not overtired or missing naps, something that was always important to us as our son took a while to grasp the concept of sleep! Over the last year my son has also developed food allergies (dairy, egg and strawberry) which took 6 months to diagnose and find the cause, throughout this time the food diaries Val provides were crucial and she ensures he doesn't have anything he is not allowed and find bakes etc that he can do too so he's not excluded. She has been thorough with all his medication and creams and when was experiencing reactions was quick to inform me and provided photos to show the doctors of the progression of his symptoms. Val provides daily photos and videos which is lovely when I'm stuck at work to see what my son is up to and see how much he is enjoying his day. Communication with Val is never a problem and my son is very happy there. She is flexible and we are able to extend our hours even at short notice. Overall we are very happy but most importantly my son is very happy there.

My son has been going to Val since he was 13 months old. He settled in really quickly and loves his time with Val and her family. They do different activities every day and go out most days, walking the dog or even just down to the post box! We chose a childminder over a nursery because we don't want our son to be stuck indoors all day every day and he never is with Val. We're really happy we found Val and can't recommend her highly enough. Oliver comes home every day having learnt new words or how to do something new. There is such a wide range of things for him to do, he's never bored. Val gives a good range of food, fruit every day for snacks and pudding. On the occasions Oliver has been unwell, Val has let us know immediately and looked after him well until we've been able to collect him. Val sends photos and videos every day which is great because, as parents we miss so much but don't feel as if we are when Val communicates and keeps us up to date so well. We really couldn't be happier with Val. When we arrive in the morning, Oliver shuts the door in my face and doesn't want to leave at the end of the day! Its such a hard decision to find someone to leave your child with and knowing you can trust someone as much as Val is very reassuring. Oliver loves her and all her family and she won't be getting rid of us any time soon!!

I just wanted to say a few words about Val.
My son has started at Val's when he was 9 months old. It is not easy decision for any mother when it's time to go back to work. But this time it wasn't that bad.
I have known Val for over 4 years and I was so happy when I found out that she finally decided to open her own setting. I've had the chance to known Val on the professional and private platform. She has been working with children nearly whole her life so can't ask for better experience. She has got incredible approach to children which helps when settling in. Liam has loved her from day one. She really looks at the child individually and recognises their needs.
They have such a fun together. Every day I got an update what they do and where they go. They are never bored. One day they go to the woods for walk, another day gym or soft play and another day garden centre or farm. When they are at home there is always some messy play going on or making craft. Val provides plenty of toys suitable for the child age, including garden.
As a parent I am very happy. The communication is great and Val always listens my suggestions about Liam. She is very flexible and does everything to make you and your child happy at her setting.
I nearly forgot to mention the delicious food what she cooks. When Liam is with her I don't have to worry about food. I know he gets freshly cooked meal with full of nutritions.
I highly recommend Val. If you looking for childminder, you must contact her. You won'e be disappointed.

My daughter is 9 years old and has been going to Vals for a few months now.
She has a stiff upper lip when I pick her up after work, is always reluctant to leave vals and calls it her 2nd home !
Val has taken my daughter to Bird world, Bognor Regis for the day, ponds, parks, farms, woods and various other places (its obvious why a 9 year old would perfer to stay there than come home, do home work, wash and bedtime)!!
Val is warm, friendly, VERY experienced with children and her home is lovely. She provides gorgeous home cooked meals that smell delicious when you walk through the door.. she meets my daughters needs who eats like a horse and eats Val out of house and home :-)
With all the left over fruit from the week they prepare "Smoothie Fridays" which my daughter looks mostly forward too.
Gizo-well what can I say..other than when you meet their dog your'll want to take him home.. he loves walks with the children and has an excellent temperment. (Though his daddy cuts his hair like his and not very well ;-) )!!
Val uses time out, assists in home work and gives half an hour free play i.e watching tv, ONLY when home work and tasks have been completed. She has complied with my strict guidelines/rules I had set for my daughter and only rewarded when necassary.. (9 year olds like mine has habits of running rings around people so I decided to put things in place from the start which Val assisted in).
Val is like a member of our family now - couldn't imagine life without her.
