About Me
Hello my name is Clair and I have 2 children aged 23 and 20 , I have been a childminder for just over 14 years .
I qualified as a nursery nurse in 1993 and since then have gained a qualification as an NVQ childcare assessor plus level 3 qualification in health and social care so have been able to gain lots of experience in looking after all ages of children.
I aim to provide a secure ,warm , friendly, happy environment where children can grow , develop and learn through play plus explore lots of exciting activities in a home from home environment . Children have opportunity to access lots of activities of their choice and during play I will observe and plan further activities to meet their individual next steps in line with the EYFS Curriculum .
Children have access to downstairs with a separate indoor play room plus other areas to do arts , crafts and sensory play .
Children are able to play in a secure garden that has a planting and growing area situated at the bottom of the garden , where children can have the opportunity to grow their own fruit and vegetables .
I have a selection of outdoor toys and children have access to a sandpit area , mud kitchen , music area , large chalk board to mark make on and an area where children can experiment with pouring water through funnels , guttering ,and water wheels . There is also a quiet area outside for children that want to sit and enjoy looking at books . A bug hotel can be found in the garden that encourages children to learn about their natural environment and how to protect and care for insects in our garden through the winter months .
We go out for walks to the shops , local park and the library where children can develop an understanding about the world in which they live .
I provide breakfast , a cooked lunch and light afternoon tea plus a choice of healthy snacks in between meals for children throughout the day , with lots of opportunities for children to help prepare their own food just like you would do if you were at home .
My Experience
I have been registered as a childminder for just over 14 years and qualified as a nursery nurse since 1993.During my time as a nursery nurse i have worked in private day nurseries and then went on to own and manage my own nursery for ten years . I am also a qualified NVQ assessor in childcare , hold a level 3 qualification in health and social care , up to date first aid , food hygiene , safe guarding certificates plus am able to regularly access lots of online training delivered through the childcare website to keep myself up to date . Having two children of my own has also provided me with further knowledge and experience .

If you had to describe your ideal child care setting - Clair would be it! She manages to be organised but creative at the same time. Just recently my daughter has enjoyed brushing giant teeth, making hedgehog bread, creating bubbly potions in huge pumpkins and when they did a fire safety project, she was a firefighter and put out a big fire picture with water pistols! Clair has a lovely garden, which has developed her appreciation of nature, as well as her knowledge of trees, birds and flowers.
With all the children Clair’s cares for, you can see a strong attachment. There is a mix of personalities but Clair caters for them all. She has also been incredible at building their relationships with each other - negotiating tricky issues such as sharing and turn taking! My daughter genuinely cares for her friends at Clair’s and it has been lovely watching their bond develop.
My child struggles with attachments and is normally very suspicious of adults. We visited a number of very nice nurseries - she cried at everyone except Clair’s. As a teacher I really appreciate Clair’s obvious knowledge of child development; her experience means she is capable of adapting her approach to meet the children’s needs, whatever their background and situation. Her communication and feedback is second to none, providing daily, weekly plans and information, as well as important updates and policies.
It goes without saying that my child has excelled in her learning and always looks forward to going there!

We couldn't have made it without Clair. Not only she is very caring and the kids receive lots of love, she is also very professional and knowledgable and her setting is like a mini nursery, but better. She is always organising lots of interesting activities and assisting the kids on every developmental stage. Clair will send us the themes and topics for the upcoming month and it is clear to see there is a lot of thought and effort that goes into this. As the kids progress we get daily updates and photos and she lets us know how they're getting on with meals etc. You can really sense that Clair enjoys her job, our son loves his time there and he is learning loads. We are also learning loads from Clair too!

Clair is an extremely experienced childminder, and easily the best childminder in Cambridge - if not the UK! She has a very large garden and a wide range of toys, books, etc., and she comes up with the most creative and fun activities for the little ones to make sure that they never feel bored. She cooks a brilliant, balanced menu for them for the week (both vegetarian and non-veg) and shares the menu with the parents, and she sends us regular updates and photos throughout the week via separate Whatsapp groups. She constantly monitors how the kids are progressing with their various skills and keeps us all updated, and she genuinely cares about their wellbeing - she even took care of our little one when he broke his leg, which is something very few childminders would do (if any), and she adapted her activities so that he would still feel included. We can't recommend her highly enough, and after having spoken to some of the other parents we know that they feel the same!

Clair has looked after my daughter since she was 11 months old. Clair has previously run a nursery and has spent her career working with children -and it shows!! She combines all the best bits from running a larger nursery- providing home cooked meals and themed play to expose them to new vocabulary, with the intimate nurturing of a childminder with lots of time for cuddles.
Clair has a enormous child friendly garden which is just geared for fun and play. There is a mud kitchen, green house, veg beds, music station, bug hotel area, water and sand stations.... to name but a few. The house is equally well equipped - Clair knows what she is doing.
Over the past months my daughter has enjoyed growing her own veg, watching caterpillars turn into butterflies and endless messy play activities. Our house is full of her art work!
I have been so impressed with how my daughters language is evolving and Clair plays no small part in this, she is so engaged with her.
I can't recommend Clair highly enough. I am forever grateful for the love and care she has for my daughter and the experiences she creates for her.

Our daughter has been going to Clair's since September 2022 and I can say that we are both so so happy with the care that she is providing!
Clair is so friendly, loving and nurturing. Our daughter always has the best time with her and we feel so comfortable knowing she is in Clair's very safe and capable hands.
Her set up is amazing! Great indoor and outdoor areas for the children to explore with plenty of activities each day.
Clair is very good at communicating what our daughter is up to every day along with weekly lunch menus. We also get regular updates on how our daughter is progressing and also upcoming plans for the next month.
Clair is very creative and puts together a lot of fun activities for the children that really help with their development.
We could not recommend Clair enough and are so thankful for the love and care she provides for our daughter.

We used Clair as a childminder for around 7 years with both of my children. Both of them really enjoyed going to Clair’s rather than school club as she was so warm and nurturing. The children were instantly at ease which made it wonderful for us. It was clear that Clair genuinely loved all the children in her care and is perfectly suited to this job. She will do anything to help you out where she can, often taking the children last minute, to help out when LIFE happens and you are late or things don’t go to plan. Not only was she our childminder but also became a friend to all the family. Supportive and reliable, can’t recommend her enough.

What would I have done without Clair. My daughter started going to her at 2 years old . It was a home from home and she put me at ease straight away when I would leave my daughter with her .
She is reliable, nurturing, patient and very creative . My daughter would often come home with lovely things they have made throughout the day (I don’t have storage big enough as they do so much together ).
Clair takes her job very seriously but is so loving towards my daughter. She managed to put my daughter at ease so quickly when she first started going to her and settled into a routine very quickly.
Now that my daughter is 6, Clair now has her after school and she still continues to love going to Clair’s as she feels like she is going home to her other family.
We have a brilliant relationship with her and I would now call her my friend and we will be so sad to see he go. Don't hesitate in sending your child to Clair, they will love her.

From the very first meeting Clair was friendly and approachable but most of all she was warm and attentive and made our then 10 month old son feel welcome. We could see instantly the rapport the other children had with Clair and how comfortable they were with her. We knew immediately that we wanted her to be our sons childminder and 16 months later we have no regrets.
Clair is an excellent communicator. She keeps us informed daily of his activities and sends us pics via what’s app (as is our preference). She also maintains a physical learning journal of our sons development. She sends a weekly meal planner and also sends us information of topics that they focus on. A recent one being Chinese New Year, where they made lanterns, tigers and also tried lots of Chinese food :) She encourages lots of different types of play, which includes arts and crafts, outdoor play, role play, reading, singing, and baking. Clair is flexible and accommodating which has been a real life saver at times.
You can really tell that Clair genuinely cares about the children and their development. And during the time our son has been in her care we can honestly say we now look at Clair as a friend not just a childminder which is testament to her character. We are really sad that Clair is relocating but our loss will definitely be others’ gain.

Clair is not only an exceptional childminder but also a caring and supportive person. She provided wrap around care for my son when he started school. She ensured he was safe and happy, and got to school safely. In her home she provided great food, stimulating activities and a home from home feeling. My son loved going there and enjoyed interacting with other children. Clair makes her 'children' feel like part of the family, and provides them with a safe and secure environment.
I often had to ask her to collect my son on additional days if I was delayed from work, she always went out of her way to do whatever she could. I would thoroughly recommend Clair to care for children of any ages, she genuinely cares and loves children. I always felt my son was safe and happy, which is so important. (In fact my son, now at high school, in a recent holiday asked if he could go to her house instead of staying at home!!!!)
