About Me

I am an enthusiastic, caring, mature 33 year old Fine Art graduate, with several years childcare and nannying experience. I have been told by many people that I have a natural way with children, which seems to be true; I genuinely enjoy their company and have a strong interest in child development.

I graduated with a first class degree in Fine Art, and since then I have combined working as a nanny and with an interior designer. Despite thoroughly enjoying both I have decided that my true vocation lies in working with children. I have since completed a level 3 diploma in childcare just to gain some academic knowledge to go alongside the experience I have with children.

With my background in art I love to encourage children to be creative. I value the importance of a healthy diet, and really enjoy cooking and baking with children.

I love being outdoors and encourage children to get lots of fresh air, come rain or shine (within reason!!)

My Experience

I have worked with children of all ages both in this country and overseas. Three weeks worki experience in a school in Switzerland inspired me to volunteer for a month at a school in Nepal, and having really enjoyed this I spent eight months over three summers volunteering at an orphanage in Ghana. In the mornings I was in charge of teaching 36 three-six year olds and the rest of the day I enjoyed learning and teaching the children new games, and helped out with whatever was needed in the day to day life at the orphanage. I also have experience looking after a three year old boy who is deaf, along with his younger sister, so I am used to working a routine around children with different needs and requirements.

Until 2020 I was working as a nanny on Fridays for a lively Ten year old girl, whom I have looked after regularly since she was six months. This involved everything from getting her up and ready for school in the morning to putting her to bed at the end of the day. I cooked for her and her family (she often helped!), I helped her with her piano practice (I play the piano myself which helps!), listened to her reading, helped with school work and organised activities for her in the school holidays.

My last job I was working for a wonderful family with three children (newborn, two and five). I initially helped out along side the mother and then looked after the three children when she went back to work, so I have experience with newborns, potty training, weaning, cooking meals suitable for their different ages and requirements etc.

My Qualifications

BA (Hons) Fine Art - First Class honours - Cardiff Metropolitan University
Early Years Educator Level 3 - City of Bristol College
Art Foundations - Distinction - Stroud College
BTEC Art and Design - Double Distinction - Stroud College
11GCSEs - 3 A*s, 6 As, 2 Bs - Stroud High School

My Availability

I now have my own two (mostly) delightful daughters, 5 years old and 3 years old so my availability has changed! I am able to do ad hoc childcare/babysitting as my partner and family can help out with my girls. I am available for babysitting and occasional weekend work, as well as adhoc hours during the week when my children are at school/playgroup.

Beth has worked for us for over a year looking after our 3 young children. Our daughters are aged 6 and 3 and our son is now 9 months - she has looked after him since he was just a few days old. Throughout this time she has proved to be fun, caring, flexible, reliable and punctual. Beth communicates really well and is very easy and fun company.
Beth is a natural and creative cook and can whip up healthy and tasty meals for children based on anything that she can find in the fridge / larder. She always leaves our home clean and tidy at the end of the day and clears up the children's bedroom and toys before she leaves. She has been happy to help with basic household tasks (dishwasher, laundry etc)
My children (and we) have loved Beth's company from the day she started working for us.
In summary I would not hesitate in recommending her for any other childcare jobs. She is intelligent and very adaptable and can apply herself to any task you ask of her.
We are very sad to lose Beth, the reason being that she is unable to fulfil the childcare hours that I need having now returned to work.
Happy to answer any other questions.
