My Summary
About Me
Hi, my name is Lisa and I’m a registered Childminder with the Care Inspectorate. My husband is Tom, we have been together for 20 years, and in that time we have had a wonderful son, William, who was born in February 2009. Five years of our time was spent in Buckinghamshire, and now we have moved back to Tom’s homeland, Scotland. After having my son and having to return to work full time, I felt I was missing out of the most important time in my son’s life, so I decided to train and become a childminder as I’ve always loved being around children as their innocence has me walking around with the biggest smile. Having been a working Mum and having the experience of trying to find a childminder myself, I do understand the need to find one you can trust with your child, who is flexible and reliable to help with your return back to work to be as stress-free as possible and to find a childminder who is willing to work around the needs of the parent is a difficult task. I’m very approachable, very flexible and very reliable and will treat every child in my care as if they were my own. My home will be safe, warm, welcoming and children-friendly . I have a varied activity & play list and I will enjoy taking the children to Toddler Groups to encourage group play and social skills, as well as organising outdoor activities to let them burn off some steam.
My aim is to encourage a journey of discovery and learning which will be fun and exciting and offer support and understanding to the needs of the children and parents.
My Objectives are to ensure I meet the children’s individual needs, to offer a relaxed and happy atmosphere, to provide healthy and nutritious meals, to promote physical development through play, to encourage group activities and teach the children to show respect for each other and to ensure each child is provided with enough physical, intellectual, emotional and social development that they require and at their own pace.
I am a member of : The Scottish Child Minding Association
The National Child Birth Trust
Registered with The Care Inspectorate
My Experience
Having a child of my own has given me the first hand experience needed to care for babies and toddlers. I have learnt so much over the last 12 years that a book just cannot put it all into words, and I have found that my ability to teach children how to learn through play and activities whilst building the children’s self believe and confidence, is as rewarding as it gets. I have also taken an in-depth Childminding course which teaches you every aspect of childminding.
