My Summary
About Me
I live near the northern edge of Retford, close to the Idle Valley nature reserve, with my husband and our three sons aged 18, 15 and 12 years.
I provide a warm, friendly and caring childcare service in a home-from-home environment, where each child can explore and develop their own interests with individual encouragement and support.
Our daily routine is fairly flexible, we visit various children's play centres and playgroups on a regular basis as well as visiting local parks, libraries, and of course the nature reserve. I am a member of the Forest Childcare Association, meaning we spend a great amount of our time outdoors in all weather. We have regular outings to places such as Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest, Rufford Country Park, Wheelgate Farm and Park etc.
We have activities each day that cover the EYFS seven areas of learning - both indoor and outdoor activities including messy play, painting, singing, baking, role play, reading and various arts and crafts.
My Experience
I have experience with children of all ages. I have worked as a nursery assistant and as a classroom assistant before having children of my own and becoming a childminder.
My Qualifications
I studied the BTEC National Certificate in Childcare and Early Years, as well as having a GCSE in Childcare and Development. I hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate and a Level 2 Certificate in Promoting Equality and Diversity.
I frequently update my professional training with Childcare.co.uk, The Open University, PACEY, the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership, the Food Standards Agency and any other relevant authorities. I have had Hygge training and am working towards accreditation for this natural experience/ nature based early years education.

I cannot express how happy I am to have chosen Tina as my little ones childminder. My little one was just 7 months old when he started and has just left at the age of 3 due to us moving. From the very first day, Tina has gone above and beyond with everything. She quickly became a second home for my little one and was so inviting, my little one instantly clicked with her - which as a brand new mum is exactly what I needed! She is lovely and very knowledgeable, so will try her best to answer any questions you may have (trust me I asked loads!).
Tina always had fun days planned. My little one always came home with a huge smile on his face, shattered and with a list of adventures they had on the day, and could never stop saying how much fun he always had - whether it was going to the park, exploring nature, or visiting play parks - they never stopped and no matter the weather Tina always made sure there was something to do for everyone!
I was always sent pictures and received regular updates with what my little one was up to. He always came home with a piece of artwork or a find.
I cannot express enough gratitude of how much Tina has taught my little one, how much she shaped his life and confident she helped him become! She quickly because a very close part of our family and will be really missed by us! We hope to arrange a playdate soon so my little one can continue to see Tina and his friends.
I am so happy I decided to send my little girl to Tina’s. It’s such a minefield knowing who to choose and whether they are going to be a good fit. I instantly got a good feeling about Tina. She is so inviting, and treats all the little ones as part of the family.
I loved the fact Tina took my little girl out everyday and they always did something fun, whether that be jumping in puddles, visiting parks, playgrounds, learning about nature, visiting the library etc.
I really like the fact they watched a caterpillar turn into a butterfly and observed the cycle, like in the hungry caterpillar and they had tadpoles that developed into frogs!
We would be given various arts and crafts projects they had made at the end of each week and each holiday is celebrated and usually some themed craft would be completed.
Tina sends regular photos/video’s to show what they have been up to, which is lovely to see, and my little girl still loves to see/watch these now.
My little girl went to Tina for approx 2 years until she started school. Unfortunately we don’t live in Retford (I work there) so I haven’t been able to utilise Tina for school drop off, which is a shame.
We talk about Tina and her childminder friends often. We met up with Tina in the October half term so my little girl could see her and her little friends, and we had such a lovely day and hope we can continue to meet each holiday.
Tina has become a big part of my little girls life, and I will be forever thankful to Tina for making her early years so enjoyable and growing my little girls confidence!
Brilliant childminding service. She has looked after all 3 of my children, my youngest from the age of 8 months to 3 years. Care is provided in a warm, family environment and I was always totally comfortable knowing that Tina would provide the best for my kids. Tina is very experienced, knowledgeable, confident and a trustworthy childminder. I would never use anyone else and cannot speak highly enough of her childminding services.
Having not lived in Retford long when I had my first child, I didn’t know what to do for childcare. I had never considered a childminder, but while I was looking at nursery’s someone recommended Tina to me… Sending my children to Tina is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
Tina is always so welcoming, helpful and knowledgable . My daughter has developed so many positive attributes through going to Tina. Her confidence and determination have flourished, and I have to credit Tina for this. Tina has helped develop her speech and language tenfold, along with her manners, and we are just starting to develop her reading and writing along with Tina’s advice. Tina has also helped and supported us with our child’s potty training and eating habits.
In terms of the activities Tina does with the children, we couldn’t ask for more. They do arts and crafts which our daughter loves and has really improved her mark marking, which is now evident with us teaching her to write her name.
Tina does all the fun things we would ideally be doing with the children if we weren’t at work. She gets them outdoors, walking, running, jumping, climbing, improving not only their physical skills but also their enjoyment of the outdoors and nature. They go to both outdoor and indoor parks, toast marshmallows, choose books at the library, attend playgroups, farms, take part in handling animals, picking fruit, and lots lots more.
Socially our children have excelled through visiting Tina.
Tina accommodates the flexibility we need with us working shifts, and is so understanding and helpful with the difficulties this causes us.
We are kept updated about what they’ve been up to and how they’ve been during the day.
Tina’s own children are really polite and well mannered, and good with the childminder kids.
When we had our second child there was no question as to where we would send her. both our children have developed really well with Tina and they thoroughly enjoy themselves.
Regardless of the benefits of how Tina develops the children, the most important thing to me is that my children are happy, content and safe, and I certainly know this is the case with Tina.
I am a parent of three and have used various childcare provisions over the last sixteen years, all very good and some rated outstanding.
Tina is one in a million, I am not surprised that she has all glowing reviews on this site!.
I have been lucky enough to have my younger two sons childminded by Tina. Both with very differing care needs which Tina worked out quickly and ensured that her routines and environment were geared up to providing them with the best opportunities. One quite sensitive and very picky with his food, however Tina always made sure that he enjoyed his meals and ate healthy and well at her house (He says Tina is a great cook!). The other son could be quite a handful and we will always be grateful for the expertise and support given by Tina to him, us and school, which has been a positive benefit to his development.
Overall such valuable support, knowing that the children are safe, happy and well looked after. All the time reliable and often flexible (usually when I've been stuck in traffic or a last minute early start); nothing too much trouble with the usual reply 'No problem Chuck!'.
