My Requirements

Our wonderful nanny of 5 years is leaving us at the end of April to start her own family so we are looking for a new nanny / nanny housekeeper to join our busy household. Ideally we are looking for a full time nanny / housekeeper but, for the right candidate, we would consider a flexible nanny who wants to do after school, some mornings and school holidays. For the full time position we will require 51.5 hours a week between the hours of 7:30 and 6:30 (8:00 start in the school holidays) but we would consider a different arrangement during school hours for the right candidate. An uninterrupted lunch hour will be provided when the children are in school.

It will be a salaried position with a written contract, gross annual salary to be discussed of between £27 and £29k depending on experience (recently increased), plus pension and expenses. Due to our location, a driver with a clean licence is essential and ideally the candidate will have their own car to be used when required (mileage will be paid) although we have a car that is usually available for nanny to use for work purposes, such as school drop off. Although the school holidays are almost as long as the term there will be quite long periods when both children are at school so the nanny will undertake housekeeping duties during the day (to be discussed and agreed). The ideal candidate will be somebody who likes animals and outdoor lifestyle.

We have a number of animals including a dog, cat, horses, geese and a few sheep (including lambs in the spring). Although we have a groom and farmhand to run the small holding and look after the horses, we would ideally like somebody who is happy to join in on busy days with light outdoor duties. This however is not essential. There may be opportunities to ride for an experienced rider. We have an indoor pool so somebody who is a competent swimmer and is confident taking the children in the pool (both can swim unaided). Must be comfortable with parents being in the house working, although we leave the nanny to her own devices.

The ideal person is someone who work and muck in with the family and the wider team, in a household and small farm where there is always something going on, and new challenges and variety.
