My Summary
About Me
I am an Ofsted registered childminder living in West Molesey, with my husband and 2 children.
I was inspected in December 2023 and was graded Good.
The setting:
Located in a quiet cul-de-sac with a good sized garden, comprising climbing frame, slide and seesaw, a sandpit, balls, trikes etc, where we also grow seasonal produce and involve children in this.
Children have opportunity to explore and make marks freely outside, and have chalks available all year round.
Indoors we have a wide variety of age appropriate toys, puzzles, books, musical instruments, arts and crafts etc, to keep children entertained and stimulated.
Lots of the play is child-led, with seasonal craft and opportunity to be creative with their learning, often adding sensory and creative play to their everyday toys to add a new dimension to their learning.
We celebrate and explore different seasons, cultures, traditions and celebrations through our play, and express them through age-appropriate craft.
Activities:
Children regularly attend stay & play, soft play, singing classes, library rhyme time, playgrounds, we are located close to the children's centre, parks and the river, and we take full advantage of these areas in all weather.
We try to do as much learning outside as we can, such as messy play, themed tuff trays, sensory play in the garden, as well as regularly visiting interesting spaces such as Bushy Park, Wisley, National Trust, and other local historical places of interest.

Behaviour and wellness:
Independence is encouraged at every opportunity, where children are taught to wash their own hands, wipe their own faces, take themselves off to bed, cut their own fruit, put on their own clothes, and toilet by themselves - ensuring they are as ready as they can be for school.
They tidy any mess they have made by dancing happily to a tidy-up song.
Nutrition:
All children benefit from healthy, home cooked food.
Their diet is packed with vegetables and fruit, it’s hidden in sauces as well as being offered in its natural state.
Refined sugar and salt is limited, the children only have processed foods such as biscuits and crisps, on rare occasions.
I encourage baby-led weaning, I don’t care about weaning mess, food is fun!
Allergies are taken seriously, and every effort is made to ensure all children are safe from any diagnosed allergens.
We are a NUT FREE setting.
Vouchers and funding:
Registered for tax-free childcare
Accept childcare vouchers
Offer all government funded childcare
I use an on-line management system called Baby’s Days, which gives parents access to their child’s day, their progress and learning and more via an app on their mobile phone.

Sam was our childminder for 5 years and the kids were very sad when they had to move on. My son started going when he was about 17month old and my daughter when she was 11month. They both really enjoyed going there and still ask about seeing her and her kids. The kids loved playing in her house and garden but also going on outings to the park, the woods, the house and garden of another childminder friend, feeding ducks, little street, soft play and many more. Sam puts great thought and effort into seasonal themed activities and other special occasions like the Chinese new year, Halloween, the run up to Christmas, world book day and many more.
We have always felt Sam understood the needs of our children well and has supported them to reach certain milestone, like potty training for example.
We can’t recommend her highly enough as a childminder!
My daughter first starting going to Sam at 9 months old and stayed with her right up to starting school. My daughter still asks to see Sam and family.
As I have no family in the area, sam basically became a support for me and my husband when things got a little difficult and help guide us through being first time parents. We could not thank her and her family enough for opening her doors to our daughter. Would highly recommend Sam she is fabulous.
we have just used Sam for holiday cover over the summer holidays. She was very professional and the kids took to her instantly which for my daughter is rare!
The setting is great and they LOVED the garden!
Sam coped with my son's fussy table manners beautifully and had him eating all sorts. They loved being there and I couldn't get them out the door at pick up, it was also lovely being updated during the day on their dairies. Thanks Sam, we will be back! X
In just a few months, Sam did an amazing job with my baby, helping with sleep and meal routines and offering so many outings and sensory experiences, from a splash park to soft play to no-mess painting and playing with jelly.
But the biggest leap was with his weaning, with exceedingly nutritious meals I would want to eat myself - chicken pie, frittata, roast dinner - and a baby who really took to baby-led weaning and solids from the start at six months, despite being 10 weeks premature.
My son has really benefitted from time at Sam’s and with other children, especially Sam’s own, who are quite delightful with babies and incredibly well raised - her values with her own children being a big part of what impressed me with her as a childminder.
I cannot recommend Sam enough! She is our holiday cover for my little boy and he has had the most fabulous time :) and she is very caring and professional :)
