My Summary
About Me
Hey, I’m Camilla, I've been working in the youth and charity sector for the past decade or so, and am currently living in Clifton, Bristol.
I am a happy, friendly and approachable person with a positive outlook. I pride myself on having a great work ethic; I am hard working and committed, and will always put my all into my work. I have a strong passion for social justice and the creative arts, and am happiest when doing something creative or when I'm out in nature.
I have extensive experience working with a diverse range of young people and children with a variety of needs. I have worked with disabled young people and children with multiple complex needs, and worked as a youth support worker for autistic children. I have also worked with Young Carers, children in the care system, and young people seeking asylum. In the past, I have been a nanny for some lovely families with little ones as young as 15 months old. I'm at an age where most of my close friends have had babies, so I'm familiar with and confident caring for new-borns, babies and toddlers.
I have a current DBS certificate through my current employer (Barnardo's) and have extensive training and experience in working with young people, safeguarding, trauma-informed support, child and adolescent neurodevelopment, and more. I am also First Aid trained.
I'm looking for part time nanny work preferably around Bristol, however I have some access to a car so can be flexible. I'm looking for families with similar values and interests to mine who want a caring, creative, playful and sensitive nanny who works with a holistic approach. Having been brought up with Steiner education I would be happy to work with Steiner and Montessori families but am not exclusively searching for such families.
Please get in touch if you think we would work well together! Thanks :)
My Experience
My CV:
Regional Practice Coordinator / Barnardos National Counter Trafficking Service, London. (March 2023 – current)
In my current role, I advocate for and offer expert advice to professionals supporting young people who have been trafficked into and / or within the UK. I work with local authorities, health professionals, police and NGO's to ensure that children at risk of being trafficked receive robust, trauma-informed and nurturing support and protection.
Field Operations Manager / Care4Calais, UK. (09.21 – 10.22)
Activities & Engagement Coordinator / Carers Support Centre, Bristol, UK. (06/19 - 09/19)
Center Project Manager / Collective Aid NGO, Belgrade, Serbia. (08.18 – 02.19)
Nanny / Monmouthshire / 2017 - 2018
I helped care for a little boy from the age of 15 months for about a year. I worked as a part-time nanny and helped out with housekeeping as part of my support. I took the little one out on afternoon trips to the park and local town, and regularly organised play and craft activities to help compliment his development. I created a great relationship with the family and the little one, and ensured I was always working to their needs and interests in a supportive and caring way. They often told me that I felt like part of their family and expressed gratitude for the effort and nurturing care I put into caring for their little boy.
Senior Youth Support Worker / Crossroads Care, Herefordshire, UK. (02.17 – 08.18)
I coordinated a youth group for young people with autism and complex needs. I supported a caseload of young people on a 1-2-1 basis to encourage socio-emotional skill development while providing respite for their carers. I also assisted with a weekly Young Carers group. I proved to have strong challenging behaviour management skills, created meaningful relationships with the young people and families, and became adept at creating support plans and completing needs assessments.
Nanny - Brighton & Hove - 2016-2017
I was a nanny and babysitter for a couple of families in Brighton and Hove. One family had three girls, aged 5 - 9, and the other family had two little boys, aged 4 and 7. I worked closely with both families and provided after school pick-up and care for the older children, and day-care for the younger ones. As part of my after-school / evening support, I facilitated after-school activities and play time, prepared and cooked meals for the children, gave them baths and put them to bed. Day-care for the younger ones included taking them to nursery and extra-curricular activities, facilitating play-dates with other families and helping around the house.
Arts & Crafts Coordinator / Chailey Heritage Foundation, Sussex, UK. (10.15 – 12.16)
I managed the Arts & Crafts department at a Life Skills Centre, providing creative therapeutic support for young adults with complex PMLD. I created opportunities for participants to feel empowered through the creative arts while developing skills, building their confidence and enhancing social connections.
Student Services Coordinator / Education First, Brighton, UK. (06 - 09.15 ? 05 - 08.14)
