My Summary
About Me
We do not offer funded places but we do work with Universal Credit and Tax Free Childcare.
Based in Caxton near Cambourne we offer something bit different.
We have space for 9 children which enables them to have a good group of friends of different ages to have fun with and work/play as a team.
Our aim is to build childrens confidence and fun for life by exploring the world, visiting lots of amazing places in our mini bus ie.Farms, Denny Abbey, Cambridgeshire museums, parks and forests, crocodile farm, shepreth zoo alongside the usual outings to gymnastics, dance, music group, garden centres and playbarns.
We have a pool and a large garden aimed at enabling children to be in touch with nature. By the time children go to school we hope that they will have a love for life and an awareness of the world around them which will inspire them to write stories and be a involved learners.
We have a fantastic time and have worked hard to make the garden an amazing place for learning with large muddy kitchen area, outdoor art shelter and a loose parts play area.
I am a childminder with a passion for enabling and teaching . I started with 3 children but alongside parents realised we needed to have more friends to play with so I got an assistant which has grown to two assistants so we can now have 9 children. I feel this is a perfect number for children under 5 as they learn to build strong relationships, feel part of a team and learn the incredibly important lessons for life of sharing, exploring and emotional bonding and friendships.
I love childminding as I am able to focus on learning outcomes and encourage each child in a homely and in real life rather than a small enclosed area. Children learn to play with others with the close and secure relationship of adults helping them to learn to be courageous and caring, independent and risk assess their own ability, work well in a team while learning to ask for help so they can achieve goals. We believe education can be stimulated best when children are actively engaged and inspired with a hands on approach. We enjoy learning about the galaxy, science experiments, nature, history, and have many days out to be involved with things that are going on in museums and events held in the wider community. They learn about real life and are prepared not only for going to school also for life in hopefully all its fullness.
I love the forest school ethos and play based learning and have tried to include these learning strategies into our ethos. I am passionate about encouraging children to enjoy education be confident and have a voice. We have found being outdoors builds confidence, helping children think, engage and gain awareness of their world.
I love being at home with children rather than a nursery as we build on all their experiences in Real Life. We do 'Real life' post office, library, parks, forests, shops, cooking, chores etc. I enjoy seeing them replicate what they learn in the world in their play and visa versa. I love seeing the flow to and from indoor and outdoor learning environments.
My aim is to create a warm, fun and educational environment in which children feel they are at home. This is their place they coming and being part of. I like children to know and feel this is their home. A pretty bespoke setting for our little ones. Providing a friendly and caring home which children enjoy being part of. I hope our 'setting' is a fantastic environment for children to grow in confidence, their experience of life, their interests and develop a love of learning.
We take our work seriously (attend as much training as we can) and aim to provide all children with the care and nurture they need. All children are individual and we feel good childminding settings enable individual needs of children to be met effectively. Alongside learning through play children need to know and feel are important and loved which plays a key role in our home.
I have a large home and garden which I use to offer a fun filled day with many outings in our mini bus, to museums, forests, parks, swimming.
We believe that children are in an environment of school for many years so we aim to provide them fun and as many experiences as I can before entering school in reception.
My Experience
I have always worked in care.
My parents owned homes for physically and mentally disabled and I went on to work as a nanny. Since then I got married and our home has always been open to many children who would enjoy our home.
My husband died of cancer when he was 41 and I have recently remarried to an accountant who is just as family orientated as my late husband. He has 6 children who have all grown up and left home (whew ! ;) )
My Qualifications
I am in the process of doing my forest school level 3 training. We attend relevant and professional training courses and read amazing books which help us learn and share information both with each other and parents.

Roseanna has worked hard to create a wonderful environment for the children in her care, with many different resources to cater for a variety of ages, personalities and the day-to-day development of each child. We really appreciated the combination of free play and structured activities, particularly with the diversity of stimuli for our daughter to explore! Having a diverse age-range of children and other minders providing support seemed much closer to a family environment, with all the benefits of learning how to share the space, carry out activities side by side and communicate with each other. We were very touched by Roseanna's thoughtful, sensitive care and attention of our daughter, especially as we were in a moment of transition. Roseanna was not only flexible to our needs, but also took into consideration the challenges ahead for our daughter in settling in to a new town and nursery and has been proactive in acting as a bridge with the staff in her new environment. We were very happy to have found such wonderful childcare and if we return to the area we will be in touch again straight away! Highly recommended!
I can't recommend Rosanna, Lisa and Wendy enough. I was very anxious in going back to work when my son was 9 months old and as soon as we met Rosanna, my anxiety was put at ease. The settling in period was fantastic in helping me to feel confident in leaving my baby in her care, and in the 1.5 years since then my son has thrived in her care.
Having assistants means Rosanna can take in a mix of ages, which really helps the children to learn how to be confident with other children and they are taught to be caring to each other as well as developing their own sense of risk assessment and independence through the forest school ethos. They often go out on excursions and have lots of outside play in the garden.
Not only does Rosanna have an enormous amount of care and compassion for the children she looks after, it also extends out to the parents too.
My son has many allergies and Rosanna has taken these in her stride, providing home cooked nutricious meals that take his allergies into account, which makes life so much easier!
My child has been with Rosanna, Lisa and Wendy for a year, as soon as I walked in her house for the first time, it felt like a home. She has done an amazing job to accommodate my child, he loves spending time and learning there. They all go out often, she is not just home bound, she offers them new and wonderful experiences! She is flexible and kind, warm and simply wonderful. We have been very lucky to have found her and will def recommend her to any one.
Thank you!!
Rosanna has been looking after my son for over 2.5 years now and she has been wonderful. I can see how my son is nourishing in the environment she keeps providing. She goes over and beyond to make sure children are happy and stimulated for learning. I also appreciate open communication with Rosanna, Lisa and Wendy. I could not have hoped for a better team. Thank you!!
