About Me
My name is Karen Brierley and I work with my daughter, Laura, who is my assistant. We live in Burnley with my husband Steven and my son, Joseph. We have a lovable pet shih tzu called Alfie. This breed of dog does not shed hair and is okay for children who suffer from allergies or asthma.
We are friendly and caring people and love working with children. I am a fully qualified Primary School Teacher with over twenty five years experience and after juggling child care and full time employment myself, I know how important it is to find good quality child care for children and want to offer this service to other parents.
We live in a three bedroom semi-detached Dorma bungalow and use all the downstairs areas to look after the children in our care. These include a playroom, which is well resourced, colourful and exciting, the living room - for quieter activities or activities requiring lots of space, the kitchen - for baking, play-dough, craft, etc, the bedroom if children require a sleep during the day and a spacious, well equipped garden. Your child will also have opportunities to visit the library for story sessions, local playgroups, parks and the farm.
We are a non smoking household.
We offer full time and part time care both term time and throughout school holidays and before and after school care.
My Experience
I have worked as a primary School Teacher for twenty years, many of these in Early Years, and have developed a good knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the different and wonderful ways in which children learn.
Throughout my years teaching I have completed many training courses including observing, planning and assessing young children, tracking children's progress, behaviour management, Autism and dyslexia. I have a sound knowledge of SEN principles and procedures and have always provided an environment where all children were given opportunities to access the early years curriculum .
