My Summary
About Me
Hi I’m Amy. I’m 34, and I live in Manchester. I have over fifteen years of childcare experience (longer if you include when I gained my childcare qualifications) and I have spent the last four and a half years as a nanny to three children (children’s ages were 10 months, 3 years old and 5 years old when I first started). I also have regular families that I babysit for quite frequently!
My previous experience includes being a room leader in a joint baby/toddler room then I went on to acting deputy manager, a baby/teenie room leader at another nursery, then on to a senior role of a toddler room leader at another nursery. I have newborn baby experience - having looked after babies from as young as six weeks old.
I’m a firm believer in letting children be children - by that I mean learning through play. Whether that’s independent play while I do some household chores, bundling into our wellies and waterproofs to go and splash in puddles outside, or snuggling on the sofa to read stories.
Every day is an adventure and I love nothing more than a spur of the moment picnic in the park, a woodland walk or visiting local places such as libraries and play centres. Or even just staying home to bake/craft.
One thing I love about being a nanny is that every single day is different. I love working alongside parents to make their little children and their household the happiest it can be!
Happy to work to a routine parents have in place already and also happy to have full autonomy of their child’s day - planning play dates, trips out activities, meals etc…
I also love encouraging little ones to become independent so I get them stuck in with helpful little daily tasks such as helping set the dinner table, pouring their own drinks, helping unload the dishwasher etc. I think it’s super important to teach this from a young age then watch as their confidence and independence grows over time!
Things I like to do with the littles - crafting, reading, being outside, nature play, messy play activities.
Things I have picked up over the years - all weather is good weather, potty training ‘expert’, adjust to each day as it comes, and not all baking recipes work out!
An idea of what I currently do alongside care of children - school drop/pick ups, plan children’s appointments, take for hair cuts, arrange play dates, tidy playroom/rotate toys, meal prep for children, laundry for children, some light household duties (mainly tidy children's bedrooms, keep kitchen tidy, occasional food/clothes shopping for children), ironing uniforms, reading school books, helping with homework, encourage after school activities (swimming lessons, violin, piano, sewing etc). I also love planning fun days out with the children when it’s half term - whether that’s a trip to the museum & parks or cinema, theatre shows, and the zoo. I’ve also been known to help plan children’s birthday parties and shop for their presents too. I love a good old wrapping presents session!!
I have experience of overnight stays (charging a flat rate during sleeping hours). I have also helped with childcare for a rollover of 3 days-up to a week - so always happy to discuss this too!
Anything else you’d like to know - just ask!

Amy has regularly looked after our 2.5 year old little boy as both a daytime nanny and a babysitter over the last year and she is quite simply everything we could have asked for and more. For our son she’s caring, fun, and supportive of his current focus and interests, and for me and my husband she’s kind, considerate and helpful and just makes our life so much easier. Over the time I’ve known Amy I’ve seen firsthand her caring for various children from newborn babies to 8 year olds and I’m always impressed by her caring nature, ability to inspire and engage children in different activities and keep calm in any situation. We feel so lucky that our son spends time in her care and this is only changing because I am about to go on maternity leave.
