About Me
Hi, i'm Shelley, An Ofsted registered childminder and rated "Good" again in my last inspection 14/02/20 with over 20yrs experience.
I'm married to Michael, a financial adviser and we have a lovely 17yr old son. We are a smoke and pet free house hold. I am CRB checked, am fully insured, have a paediatric first aid certificate and safeguarding trained. I am also a member of PACEY.
The children have free access to all the indoor/ outdoor toys, games and educational activities and have free flow of the play room, garden and for those toilet trained, their own cloakroom. There is usually some sort of art and craft going on. I follow the children's interests and incorporate their learning into this whilst also introducing them to new things. We do cooking, grow strawberries etc so the children can eat what they have helped grow. We also visit Ferry Meadows and other parks as well as children’s gym session and inspired play town.
All parents are kept up to date with their child's progress and day with daily diaries and photographs on WhatsApp.
My Experience
I have been working with children for over 20 years in different areas of childcare, firstly as a nanny, as a classroom assistant then in private and state run nurseries. I enjoy working with children and find it very rewarding, I wouldn't want to do anything else.
I have experience with food and other types of allergies, children with Asthma and children with type1 diabetes.
My Qualifications
I have completed the CACHE level 3 Diploma in Home-based childcare and am going on various courses all the time.
I am Ofsted rated "Good" for the third time in February 2020.
My Availability
My working days are Monday to Thursday and I am term time only.
I provide care for children under the age of 5 yrs only. I do not do school or nursery runs.

Where do I begin? Shelley has been an absolutely amazing childminder for our little boy for the last 2 years while I got back into full-time work. Since being with Shelley, my little boy has absolutely thrived.
Shelley has a lovely home, which is extremely nurturing and spacious for the children. She takes the children out often to explore, learn, and have fun.
My little boy adores Shelley and her family immensely, and anyone would be lucky to have Shelley look after their children. I would recommend to anyone.

My daughter started with Shelley at 9months old. She made her feel so welcome and comfortable that she settled straight away. Shelley has provided a clean and safe environment along with enjoyable activities and outings. She also gave extra support when my circumstances at home changed. We have now moved away but she has continued to support her us with helping to gain a diagnosis for our daughter, even going on further courses so she had a greater understanding of the condition. I love the home from home feeling of her setting. I would highly recommend Shelley.

Shelley looked after my daughter for over a year then suddenly cancelled her contract in writing without warning, giving no reason for this. Her son attacked my son at school and because I challenged her about this my contract was cancelled. Clearly doesn’t care about the children in her care if this can be done at the drop of a hat to my daughter.

This review in no way reflects the level of care I offer to all of the children I look after. This is purely a malicious response to me giving notice.
I have looked after her daughter for two years without any issues until an incident at the school that both of our sons go to. The incident was dealt with in school but I was sent a series of texts accusing my son of deliberately hurting her son (which he did not).
It was at this point that I determined that there was a break down in the relationship and decided to give notice of termination today.
However, prior to me notifying the parents, I was advised that they were already looking for alternative childcare which suited both of us.
Since giving notice I have received a voicemail message that as well as being abusive stated that her daughter loved coming here. You would have to ask that if the scores given above were accurate, why would you leave your daughter here for two years?
Everyone has the right to comment on the service they receive but it should be the truth.
I want to let people no how amazing this lady is she makes my girls very happy and welcome. There are always happy to go that's means a lot as I can go to work happy knoing there happy. She is a very caring person and I like that about her easy to get on with and I just couldn't ask for any better xx

Shelley is very caring and professional.
She provides a wide range of toys to play with in the home and takes the children out to many activities and toddler groups too, so that they can interact with other children.
She has been very helpful with general parenting queries such as the best nappies to use and how to get children to eat a variety of food.
I would recommend her to anyone.
