I'm looking for a babysitter primarily for my son but there may be the odd occasion where I need childcare for both children.
My son is a bubbly, sociable autistic 8yr old. He loves gaming and speaking about his gaming. He also loves his cat and all animals. He has a cheeky sense of humour, loves to rickroll you. He has had a hard time in the last with school aversion and a parental separation. His mental health is much better now but he still experiences a lot of anxiety around demands. He has had a babysitter since April and has a wonderful relationship with them but their health means they are limited in terms of how often they can work. He also has a 15yr old babysitter who is not left alone with him and can only manage school holiday work. This is why I am looking for someone else.
My Requirements
I'm looking for a long-term babysitter who would like to develop a positive relationship with my child. I would want to vet thoroughly to ensure you are the right match for him and he for you because he needs stability in his life.
The work would start with me being at home and then after a few sessions progress to leaving him for an hour during the day, building up his capacity gradually. Eventually I hope to employ someone for an evening every fortnight as a minimum, but this could be flexible as to which day.
A willingness to work flexibly and to engage in reflexive practice is more important to me than formal qualifications. You need to be able to match his energy and enthusiasm but be able to stay calm if he becomes anxious.
