About Me
Hello.
I live with my husband and my fourteen year old daughter, on a quiet housing estate within walking distance of central Netherton. We have an additional six children between us, who live independently and twelve grandchildren. I have an educational background of over 15 years and have experience working with SEN children.
I provide a warm and loving home-from-home environment for children, where they are made to feel welcome and part of an extended childminding family. Children are encouraged to explore their own personalities, be aware of and tolerant of others, and be respectful of themselves, others, and their environment. They are encouraged to make choices for themselves, be respectful of those who do not agree with their choices and peacefully find compromises and resolutions. Children will be nurtured and cherished, but also encouraged to gain the skills to be independent, do things for themselves and make positive contributions.
As an Ofsted registered childminder, it is a mandatory requirement that I follow the guidance set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework 2021. Within the framework, there are 7 areas of learning (3 prime and 4 specific). Your child will have access to all the 7 areas of learning and development, (which are interconnected) younger children focusing on the prime areas of learning which underpin everything we do in the early years:
Within early years, children learn best through play activities, which help them to build confidence as they learn to explore, think about problems and to relate to others. Their development will evolve naturally through play, taking advantage of teaching & learning opportunities as they arise, implementing and extending knowledge. They will be encouraged to investigate their natural surroundings and take risks in a controlled environments such as forest school. I aim to provide the children will a breadth of experiences which heighten their sense of awe and wonder and I will observe your child playing so that I can plan and develop new and challenging learning experiences.
I am required to promote the Fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance for those with different faiths and beliefs, to children in my care.
My Experience
After having my first three children, I worked as a volunteer at our local toddler group before returning to work. Since then I have gained over 15 years experience working in education including working with children with behavioural and emotional difficulties and SEN children. I also have extensive experience in developing schemes of work, lesson planning and delivering learning programmes.
My Qualifications
I have completed all the training requirements needed to be awarded a Childminding Licence by Ofsted including: Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection, EYFS Awareness for Childminders and Food Hygiene.
I also have a 7307 Teaching Certificate (CTTLs equivalent) and have accumulated a selection additional qualifications and intensive training.
