About Me
Hi there, I'm Debbie. I'm a vibrant 54 year old married lady with 2 grown up boys. We live near Chesham and I've been a registered childminder for 15 years, I'm also a registered nurse. I was routinely inspected with Ofsted in 2019 and I am delighted to have been awarded a 'Good' judgement.
We live in the village of Ley Hill, just outside of Chesham. It's a gorgeous semi rural area, served by a lovely Pre School attached to Ley Hill School.
We have a large home set back from the road. We have a spacious bespoke playroom with toys and activities for children of all ages. There's a secure, well equipped rear garden and separate sleeping room. All our meals are home cooked with locally sourced ingredients, where possible. I can also cater for all dietary needs. I also try to utilise all that our village has to offer in the childcare by encouraging the children to attend village based activities ie cubs and cricket.
My aim is to offer flexible high quality, bespoke, yet affordable childcare whilst providing the children with a loving homely environment for them to develop and grow to their full potential.
Being a childminder isn't just an informal arrangement between friends to babysit.
I work using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework (my legal requirements, the same as any other Nursery, Pre-School or school for children up to the 31st August after their 5th birthday.)
They cover all aspects of learning; these include

We have lots of fun whilst learning.
I have plenty of free parking right outside of my home which makes drop off and picks up easy, there is a regular bus service into the village and I can arrange to drop children home at the end of their day.
I have the flexibility to drop off and collect from Ley Hill School and Nursery.

My Experience
I have been a registered childminder for 15 years having completed an inspection in April 2019 and was awarded a 'Good' and previously an outstanding award.
I am also a registered nurse, with over 30 years of experience in the care field.
As with all registered childminders I hold an enhanced DBS, a paediatric full aid certificate and a safeguarding certificate.
I am an experienced mum to two young men and have attended a number of childcare related courses.
In my childcare setting I use sign as a way to communicate with babies before they find their first words.
I have experience of children with speech and languages difficulties , those children with English as a second language and also children on the autistic spectrum. I also have wide experience of caring for children with diabetes, epilepsy, asthma and allergies. I am confident and competent to adminster medication such as insulin.
I have a number of professional references that are available upon request.

I have a Paediatric First Aid Qualification
I am a Registered (Retired) Nurse on Part 13 of the NMC register.
I have completed my Safeguarding certificate and manual handling
I have a Food Safety Certificate. I am a registered Data Controller and have completed a number of mandatory courses (EYFS, Safeguarding). I am GDPR compliant.
I have a full clean driving licence and we have a vehicle dedicated for use with the children with appropriate car seats for children's different stages of development.

My daughter has been going to Debbie for almost 2 months now and I can’t thank Debbie enough for how welcome she made her feel. Debbie is extremely loving and caring. She is an absolute God send. Debbies house is so warm and welcoming and I always see kids entering & leaving with a big smile.
