About Me
Hello, my name is Sara - OUTSTANDING - specialist EARLY YEARS ONLY CHILDMINDER, caring for 9 months - 4 year olds.
I am the Owner/manager of Park View Childminding, We are an Outstanding childcare setting, located in the Thornes area of wakefield.
I also run my own early years consultancy service, supporting other early years childcare providers locally and nationally.
Here at Park View, we are a very caring, nurturing team who strive to provide the best care and education for your child in a calm, happy and positive, home from home and very enriching environment where children learn and explore through play and meaningful, high quality interactions.
Our fantastic location means that we have access to all of our superb local amenities such as Thornes park, Wakefield one library and Museum, The Hepworth gallery, toddler groups and a soft play centre, as well as the beautiful rural walks around pugneys water park. We also love to explore in the wider world with amazing outings.
I am a qualified nursery nurse with experience of working as a nanny and in school. I have 3 grown up children and I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I am situated very close to The Thornes road area of Thornes.
We have a beautiful setting with an amazing and fantastically equipped playroom that supports every aspect of a child's development and this allows free - flow exploration and engagement, with the indoor and outdoor resources and play spaces. We pride ourselves on our clean and safe environment for children to learn through play.
The playroom opens into our extremely secure outdoor play area. It is an amazing play space equipped with an eclectic and exciting mix of resources that have been developed by my amazing assistant who is an early years specialist. My assistant has also helped many local authority early years settings in the district, to set up and arrange their play environment to make them better and more succesful for children to learn and play in.
We are both highly qualified and highly skilled practitioners. We also both have training in paediatric first aid and food hygiene as well as training in food allergens
We are fully training in advanced child protection and safeguarding.
We are a team of highly qualified and experienced early years experts and have our own early years consultancy service, which is run alongside my childminding business. I also work as a freelance consultant area lead, for the childminder mentor programme which is run by the Department for Education.
My assistant who is also an early years specialist and qualified early years teacher. He had been trained as an ofsted and agency inspector of early years and has also worked as a moderator of early years for Wakefield Authority early years team.

Our ethos is that children learn through play, in a happy, nurturing and very caring home from home environment, where they are cared for and supported to enable them to develop to their fullest potential.
We provide the children with lots of enriching opportunities to learn and explore in the wider world, with fantastic trips and outings that build upon each child's experiences of the world around them.
We work in close partnership with parents and carers to get to know your child. We record each childs development and progress as an individual child and this information will be shared with parents and carers at regular intervals, in our patent and carer reviews. The reviews are a chance for us to chat and talk about your child and their care, as well as their progress. We are a friendly and approachable professional team, with your childs best interests and safety always at heart.
We provide fantastic food and balanced nutrition with home cooked meals. We support breast feeding mums too.
My husband who is my registered assistant, after being an early years reception teacher for 30 years, as well as an early years moderator for Wakefield education authority. He has two degrees in early years and is an excellent teacher who will be able to help get the children off to an excellent educational start, before they begin their formal education journey at school.
We support the "Whole Child" and their learning and development across the seven areas of learning.
We have memberships for National Trust and Lotherton bird gardens and we often do amazing walks with the children and have some amazing outdoor story sessions on our walks, that are so much fun!
We have a brand new car which was chosen for its high safety standard awards, to ensure the children are as safe as possible when travelling.
We have a close working relationship with our Local Authority early years team and we often deliver early years training to other childminders out of working hours.
I am an approved Local Authority provider of funded places for 2, 3 and 4 year old children and we also offer the 30 hours funding subject to eligability and space.
We also accept childcare choices payments.
My registration certificate and DBS certificate are available to view when you visit us.

Sara and Kev are such warm, welcoming people, the kind of people i want around my daughter,
essentially helping raise her. My little girl is so fond of them and the other children which eases me greatly. I love the daily adventures they go on. I believe it is impactful on her learning and upbringing. I can’t wait to hear what she’s learnt from her days out. They follow procedure to the letter (professionals) and in a nutshell look after her in a warm and loving atmosphere. They have also been there for me and helped with any parenting difficulties. So thank you to you both!

Our daughter has been attending Sara’s setting for 18 months and I cannot recommend her and Kevin enough. The setting is every parent and child’s dream. Their passion for what they do is wonderful. They are so knowledgeable, but most importantly for me, they are the kindest and most loving people. I am delight our girl gets to be part of their extended little family and that they can care and nurture her for us. Thank you so much to you both.

We first heard about Sara’s childminding services on a recommendation which came at exactly the right time. We’d been nervous about looking for a nursery for our baby who was 7 months at the time. We got so lucky that a rare place had come up with Sara and we went to look round. Any questions or anxieties I had went out my head straight away because the feeling we got looking around was all we needed to know he’d be well looked after there! We got offered the place and he started a few weeks later with his settling in visits. He felt at home instantly and hasn’t had a single day of tears or separation anxiety! Even as a baby with food allergies and a serial contact napper, he easily settled in and Sara & Kev made sure all his usual routines were respected. We have always had a partnership when it comes to his allergies and it was a huge relief to know they took it seriously.
Could go on all day but the last 5 months have been the best decision we could’ve made for our son. We know how much he loves it there and he’s constantly learning and growing!

My daughter attended Park View from when she was 11 months old until she was nearly 2 (we moved away or we’d still be there). The care provided was second to none.
Sara and Kev are like a second family and are incredible childminders who go over and above to provide a fun day for your little one all whilst they learn and play with their friends.
When I returned to work following maternity leave I felt reassured that my daughter would be happy and she settled in straight away with no tears and had a lovely group of friends.
Communication was always good and we could track our daughter’s progress on her termly reports.

Both of my daughters have been to Park View and I can’t recommend them enough. They have a beautiful setting which is well equipped with lovely toys and an amazing outdoor space. Sara is exceptional at what she does and my girls both love her. She’s professional, caring, kind and so knowledgeable about early years development.

My Little girl is 3 year's old now so has been at Park View since she was 9 months old.
I definatly feel like it was the best choice we could have made childminder wise. Sara and Kevin are both amazing with her, they have improved her speech and learnt her so much.
They are also always keeping me updated of what she is doing during the day to keep me at ease - weather it's at there place or the many day trips out they take her on. And always there for advice and helpful tips to make been a parent easier. I couldn't recommend them anymore

Cannot credit Sara enough. I was very nervous moving from one childminder to another as my son was very nervous in new situations and cried everytime I left him.
I had none of this with Sara, from the first few introductions and settling in sessions we had no tears, my son loves to go now and looks forward to seeing the other children and all the activities he knows he will be doing with Sara.
Sara is brilliant with my sons allergies, keeps up to date with any healthcare issues he has and has become a great support for any other issues my son has.
Recommended to all my friends looking for childcare and I can highly recommend to anyone in the area.
