My Summary
About Me
My name is Sophie, I am 32 years old and enjoy looking after babies and young children.
I have studied Childcare at an NVQ level 2 and passed this successfully.
I am fun, creative and enjoy doing child-based activities for example painting, exploring, making things, reading.
I enjoy socialising and getting to know new people, I enjoy speaking to parents about their children and see how they get on in their day-to-day lives.
I have 3 children, 14 years old, 4 years old and 2 years old my children are my life, they are very good children and well behaved. my son attends high school and my daughter attends nursery.
My Experience
I have previously worked with 9 families from the local area and I am currently unemployed due to having my son and my previous family having a new baby so she is on maternity leave.
Firstly I started off working as a childminder for 2 girls aged 3 and 6 years old - I had to arrive to work for 7.30am and help get the children ready for school and nursery, I would get their breakfast ready and also make pack lunches - during the nursery/school hours I had my spare time to do house work around the parents home who had employed me (for example: Washing, Ironing, Emptying the dishwasher, Preparing evening meals for the whole family and generally tidying up the children's toys and games). I would then collect the children and take them for some after-school activities depending on what they would enjoy doing (usually going to the park).
I have also completed a 6 months work experience working in a pre-school nursery with children aged 3 months to 4 years - At the nursery I had to help the children with their basic skills, I also had to observe the children on a 1-2-1 basis and make a weekly report of their strengths and weaknesses which would be giving to the parents once a photocopy had been made.
I also had to help decide on dailys activities for the children, this would include a rota of what was going on during that day, Eash member or staff took this in turns daily.
I have worked as a part time nanny for a single mum who had a 10 year old daughter and also a little boy of 1 year who has Cerbal Palsy, this meant I got experience of working with a disabled child as well as just learning it during my NVQ childcare course. I had to look after the little one whilst the mother was at work and the daughter at school. I would have to play games that he would be able to join in to suit his needs for example playing with musical instruments, light up objects and also floor acitivites.
I have worked for a Doctor's Family who is from Whetstone, I picked up her son from nursery and took him home, we would do some activities this included reading, games, and painting/playdough. I would then prepare him a evening meal and get him ready for bed this would include his bath and story time. I worked there for over 1 year but had to finish working here as she had another baby and she was taking maternity leave so no longer needed my help. I still visit now as her son loves me to come round and play and watch TV with him.
I have recently worked with disabled children on a 1-2-1 basis this included a child with cerbal palsy and a child with autism - it is a struggle at first and did take longer to bond with the child due to there disabilities but we always got there in the end.
I have taken on babysitting jobs previously and have enjoyed all the families and children I have worked with.
My latest experience was working with a lovely 10 year old boy who had learning difficulties. He was truly a star and I loved taking care of him. I used to help him with homework after school and help him make his dinner as he was very independent even though he had slight learning difficulties. I had to give him he's medication each morning before school and also make sure he got to his school carer safely at this meeting point.
My Qualifications
My qualifications are as follows:
I took 9 GCSE all in all and completed all 9 succesfully these included Maths and English.
I have done 2 A levels - 1 in Business which I passed with a grade B and also photography which I passed at a grade C.
I have also done a BTEC Business course at level 2 standard and passed this with a Merit.
I have also completed an NVQ level 2 in childcare with work experience/work placement and I passed this course with a distinction.

Sophie has been looking after my son for 5 years now since he was 1yrs old when she first started childcare again since moving to Norfolk. I honestly could not wish for a better person to care for my son. My son loves going there and Sophie is always accommodating and willing to help out when I have needed it. You will not find a better Nanny. She is Fantastic and my son absolutely adores Sophie.

I had planned on 2 different occasions to meet her. The first time she was a no show, she told me it was work she was finishing from and she got out very late.
We planned a second visit the week later and yet again no show, actually this time she didn't even bother to reply back to my messages to find out IF she was going to turn up.
I had not read her reviews and maybe i should have, i would have saved myself the bother of rushing home to meet up with h

I have recently had Sophie working for me and my 2 bundles of joy.
She helped do the morning school run and also afternoon pick up. Sophie used to help with breakfast and dressing the children in the morning. during her spare time she used to clean the house and prepare our evening meals for the children.
She was a great help and I would recommended her to anyone. Very mother like and always willing to lend a hand.
Sophie is also flexible and also helped us in emergency childcare.

After speaking with Sophie, we arranged to meet up. Sophie seemed very friendly and I was very keen on meeting her.
Even after reading her negative reviews on Childcare.co.uk, I still chose to interview her. I believed there must of been some unforeseeable circumstances why Sophie did not attend two of her interviews.
However Sophie did not show up to my interview either. When I called her my call was cleared twice, then I received a message saying " Sorry hon x"
There has been no call or explanation. I am very disappointed and let down by her unprofessional conduct and how young minded she is.

Just a quick review...sophie helped to babysit for me during weekends and enjoyed it.
Sophie adored my 3 children and theywas amazed by her. She made them laugh smile and they always had fun.
Sophie is a good babysitter with childcare as her main priority.
She has made a fantastic effort with my children ans im proud of how far she has come in her childcare.

After reading majority good reviews and re-arranging an interview, I was very disappointed that Sophie did not show up, neither have the courtesy to contact me with an explanation! I was actually concerned that something serious may have happened to her, so I have sent messages and I have had no response...Now I'm just rather annoyed.

Sophie helped to look after my 8 year old whilst I was pregnant with my son. She was always able to help me in an emeregency when i had hospital appointments for my antenatal lessons, scans etc.
Sophie would also help out with house work during her spare time when my daughter was at school. She would always prepare a healthy snack or meal for my daughter and she made my daughter feel very comfortable.
I am happy to recommened sophie for any childcare that she may take on and i will be happy to give a written reference or speak to other parents who are considering sophie as a childminder or nanny!
Keep up the hard work :)

I'm sorry Sophie, but after talking to you a couple of times on the phone and arranging an interview, to just not turn up without calling even afterwards to explain / rearrange is very unprofessional.
Despite your good references I have been really disappointed.
