About Me
I have been a full time home tutor for many years now. Children greatly benefit from this one-to-one help. Working alongside the school curriculum to support your child fully, I provide individualized lesson plans, pinpoint weak areas, strengthen knowledge and improve understanding of topics studied at school.
I also provide more challenging work, where appropriate. In the summer, I aim to revise concepts already covered, as well as prepare children for the new school year ahead. I give comprehensive feedback after each lesson and set achievable homework goals to establish thorough learning of key concepts. In time, children grow in confidence and they begin to flourish and become focused young people.
I have a passion for teaching, a wealth of experience and an insightful approach. Helping children to reach their full potential is extremely rewarding. It is wonderful knowing that I have played a small part in guiding and shaping their future.
My Experience
As a primary school teacher, with a Montessori diploma, I use a child centred approach, keeping lessons fun and engaging. I form a unique bond with each child and encourage them to work independently, purely for the joy of learning.
By following the child’s interests, I have created endearing bonds and lasting friendships with many of the families whose children I have taught. Fortunately, this has given me the opportunity to help siblings in each family too.
As a parent myself, I understand just how hard it can be to motivate and challenge your children. I aim to ease this pressure by letting you enjoy parenting, whilst I concentrate on helping your child to develop the skills that they need to form a strong work ethic.
Every step of the way, I formulate a tailor made teaching plan and provide detailed feedback. I encourage further understanding of the school curriculum through repetition, reinforcement and testing, targeting key areas in the form of homework (if required).
Additionally, I offer ongoing tutoring or holiday courses for the following areas that may need some extra support:
Story Writing - tailor made story writing sessions run all year, with holiday courses being very popular.
Handwriting - help to improve handwriting, taking into account a child’s individual interests and difficulties.
Reading - encouraging children to develop a love of reading is something that I relish. Such a pleasure to see children enjoying the written word in a variety of formats.
HOLIDAY LESSONS - regular tutoring or specific help to boost confidence. I also run story writing workshops for children of all ages.

My Fees
- Tutoring from £40.00 per hour
I charge £40 per hour to teach in your home or on Zoom (KS1).
It costs £45 per hour for KS2 tutoring in your home.
Zoom sessions are just as effective as regular face to face lessons. Most parents have elected to keep their children’s lessons online, because it suits their schedules. Generally, Zoom lessons work best for children from Yr1 onwards. I also teach pre school children.
Having two or more weekly lessons helps to establish a clear structure and speeds up the learning process. This is worth considering in time. It is particularly helpful if you need help with both English and maths.
TRIAL SESSIONS/ASSESSMENTS ARE AVAILABLE. These sessions are about 11/2 hours long and cost £45 (online trial) and £50 (lesson in your home). This will include an informal assessment and comprehensive feedback.

As a parent of 4 and someone who earns a living from creative writing, I was fascinated by Sonali’s refreshing approach to this often overlooked aspect of a child’s development. Especially as creative writing brings together the whole of the English curriculum all at once. After all, good grammar, punctuation, spelling and handwriting earns marks at the end of each academic year and therefore shouldn’t be ignored.

English is multifaceted and honing language skills to develop an individual creative writing style takes time and patience. Thank you for your faith in the process. At the end of the day, it is your belief in a systematic approach to teaching that has helped to shape your children’s future.
We first met Sonali when we were searching for a tutor for our son. We were so impressed by her teaching methods that we used her to guide him throughout his whole primary school life. Save to say that Sonali was invaluable in helping our son navigate through the 11+ process and get into our school of choice. She was always positive and encouraging and although gentle was also firm and had a good understanding of how to relate to our son. Her holistic approach which includes tips and guidance for parents have been incredibly helpful.
Sonali is now also providing our 6 year old daughter with a tailor made teaching plan whereby she will adapt & construct the lessons according to what works best.

It is wonderful to have the privilege of teaching siblings, and still stay connected to the oldest child, while helping a younger sibling. Truly rewarding to see how your son has blossomed into a confident, charming, mature and well rounded student.
It is such a pleasure to be involved in the development of yet another young mind in your family! Your daughter is a creative, kind and polite young lady. I look forward to helping her to build her knowledge in both English and maths, as well as encouraging her to gain confidence and independence, in time.

We were so grateful to have found Sonali completely by chance on this website. My son has responded so well to her teaching methods and the lessons have made a huge difference to his learning. Sonali is so considered about how she approaches each lesson and always makes it fun. She adapts and changes the topics based on what she feels works best for him so always has a great session. I don't see us ever not using her to help her guide my son through school and support him as and when is needed and cement is understanding across Maths and English. While my son is young I think it's never too early to confirm the best way to learn the basics to build a great foundation for the future. Couldn't recommend more!

I am so glad that you contacted me Andrea, because my teaching technique, combined with your support at home has really created an avid little learner over the summer. So happy that you are continuing lessons.
It is an absolute pleasure to teach your young son. He has developed incredible focus and independence in the short time that I have been teaching him. He is a delight to teach. His listening skills have improved tremendously. It is a joy to watch his progress, and I know that he will continue to thrive and make us all very proud of his rapidly developing skills in both literacy and maths.
Sonali started to teach my 6 years old son when pandemic begun. At that time he couldn't almost read and write at all and because I am Polish I couldn't help him. Then I found a private tutor. When Sonali started to teach him, he made such great progress in the short time. Sonali is a great, experienced and very patient tutor. I am very happy that she taught my son. Highly recommend.

Sonali is a fantastic tutor with a measured approach that has significantly improved my 6 year old daughter’s reading in a matter of a few weeks. My daughter has struggled with literacy and phonics for a little while so it’s such a huge relief to finally see some progress. What I also find really helpful is the clear and concise feedback points that Sonali provides. I am able to work on these in a fun way to keep my daughter’s interest and see progress each week.
