My Summary

My Experience

My first job as an mentor was very early, at 16, when I was recommended by my school to work with the charity RAPT (Rehabilitation of Addicted Prisoners Trust). We worked on an anthology of inmates' creative writing, to promote the charity. Following this, I began tutoring and mentoring in my area, using my own experiences to reach out to young people going through upheaval or any circumstances disadvantageous to their studies.
After that, I worked as a TA in local Primary and Secondary schools, gaining classroom experience for a PGCE in which, in the end, I never enrolled. I continued to specialise in Year 1/ Early Years Literacy in my own time until at 21, after University (in Leeds), I came to London. Around this time I also travelled to New York and Central America. Upon returning, I joined a peripatetic organisation teaching the culture of the Aztecs and Modern Mexico in activity days for schools in the broad London area, learning how to merge my performance experience with education and be the most fun carer I could be! I also worked as a Private Tutor, specialising in Literacy-based Special Educational Needs and English as an Acquired Language (I speak a bit of French and Spanish, but have taught English to countless other mother tongues of which I don't speak a single word!).
These roles made me want to get back in the classroom permanently, so I joined Career Teachers, an agency which placed me as an SEN TA in various London schools, which has broadened my experience enough that it is quite easy to run a freelance schedule of childcare in support of my music career, as and when I need it.
I have continued to work as a Nanny and Tutor, keeping my qualifications up to date, and have also served a few periods of long-term residential nannying, too, that make me quite happy to work in peoples' homes (I have a cleaning qualification and neatness OCD and am also a decent cook of healthy food, so will be comfortable with a bit of housework). In summary, I have broad experience with many families and children of all ages, and could perform a variety of roles!

My Availability

My weeks are extremely varied, though as each one comes, so nothing is set in stone.

My Fees

• Tutoring from £20.00 per hour
• Babysitting from £12.00 per hour

Babysitter/Nanny ~ £12 ph, or more depending on number of children (£2 ph per child)

Tutor rates are reasonable but dependant on subject, age group and travel expenses ~ please get in touch and we will work something out!
