My Summary
About Me
I am a 55 yr old qualified nanny with over 38 years experience working with babies and children of various ages and cultures. I am a friendly, energetic, calm, kind, patient and honest person with a great love of the outdoors , animals and nature. In my free time I love to walk and explore the beautiful coastline we have , and when I'm at home gardening and DIY fill the rest of my time. I really enjoy being arty and creative with the children in my care and love watching their confidence grow when learning new skills . I have also raised my own son alone who is now 24 years old. Spending time with family and creating memories means everything to me .
My Experience
Since gaining my Nursery Nurse qualification in 1985 I have worked with children in a variety of setting's. After qualifying I worked as a nursing auxiliary at Mayday Hospital in Croydon caring for children and babies with infections diseases. After a few years I decided that I wanted to become a nanny working in private homes which continued for 30 years. Watching my families little ones grow, gain independence, then seeing them off to school filled me with pride. The children in my care have ranged from 2 week old twins to teenagers. In 2007 I became a teaching assistant in a primary school supporting the children in nursery , reception, and years 1,2 and 3. In 2015 I decided that I wanted to be a foster carer. After one year of training and courses I was approved, and a little girl of 8 years came to live with me until she found a permanent placement. Over the last few years I have been a nanny for a family with a baby of 4 months who was soon joined by his brother . In 2021 I moved to Seaford ( which I love ) and have been doing a nanny/housekeeping role . I also spend my day off doing a voluntary role recuing wild animals .
My Qualifications
I have an NAMCW diploma. (national association of maternal child welfare) 1985. East Surrey college.
During my time as a teaching assistant I attended several training sessions and courses 2007-2015 including safe guarding, autism awareness, forest schools, plus many others.
I passed as an approved foster carer in May 2015. Prior to this I had a year's training covering many areas plus attended a skills to foster course.
During the past 2 years I have been on several training courses, e.g., first aid, epilepsy training, first aid, manual handling, infection control , resuscitation, introduction to learning disabilities plus initial skills for a temporary post I had doing patient transport during covid . I also have an up to date DBS and a Paediatric first aid.
