My Summary

My Experience

Since February 2022, I have been employed as a full-time, live out Nanny for a family of four. My role is split between shared care (with the mother) and sole charge, and I care for a boy (6) and girl (3). The boy has additional support needs and this is something that I have not only managed to support, but that I have taken a huge amount of pride in watching our relationship grow. The girl is a firecracker and the last 5 months have been a gift. Watching her independence and skills blossom, particularly dressing herself and helping to prepare food, have been a joy to watch and be a part of.

I am the second oldest in a family of five children, with age gaps of 5 – 9 years between me and my younger sisters. I learned about changing nappies and early-development before I was 12, and this led to me often babysitting for my siblings and for family friends’ children too. We were also home-schooled, and so I have a good understanding of how to school in a home environment, something I imagine is invaluable during these times. I have continued to babysit/child-mind for friends over the years and am confident looking after children from newborns through to teenagers.

I have two nieces (ages 2 and 4) whom I used to live nearby and whom I bubbled with during pandemic lockdownsin order to support my sister with childcare needs. I looked after both girls once a week (sole/joint care with other family members at times) and spent an additional day with them in their own home. This time included play, nap time, food preparation and feeding, occasionally bath time, nappy changing, potty/toilet training, educational play including numbers, colours, alphabet etc, and craft time. We also played outside whenever the weather/lockdown restrictions allow. I will not continue with this once I commence work for a private family, however.

I have trained and volunteered with ChildLine in the past, a role that required a high level of emotional maturity and resilience as well as a thorough understanding of safeguarding. I also have one year's experience of volunteering at a Children's Home in Tanzania. During this time, I was a playworker with children aged from 5 weeks through to 21 years (some of whom had severe physical and learning disabilities and difficulties).

My Qualifications

I have a Master's Degree in Psychology, a BA(hons) in Art History, and I am also a qualified pharmacy dispenser. I have completed a first aid at work course in addition to safeguarding of children.

My Availability

Full Time: Monday to Friday, 8am - 6pm

• Babysitting from £20.00 per hour
• Nannying from £20.00 per hour (gross)
