About Me

I am a fully qualified childminder, my name is Jo. I have 25 years of experience working with children of all ages.

Where I live...
I live in Braintree and cover Lyons Hall Primary School. I love to create enriched learning opportunities for children in their local environment and I will often attend groups and facilities local to the setting. We explore and learn at parks, libraries, stay and play groups and local fields.

My family.....
I live in with my husband Paul, my daughter Maddison (11), our two cats Sparkle and Cookie and our loving and very friendly Labradoodle puppy Willow. Our team includes: myself (Jo), my two assistants, Paige and Lyn (my mother).

My home and facilities....
The childcare is based at my family home, which I have created to be a nurturing, educational, and enjoyable environment. The setting includes a fully-equipped playroom; filled with a variety of resources and toys aimed to support children's progress. A spacious garden, which includes; a mud kitchen, a changeable tuff tray, a vegetable patch and many outdoor toys for children of all ages, especially to support our EYFS children's gross and fine motor skills. Additionally, children have access to our snug; where the children can sit down and unwind after school. Whilst at my setting, children have the opportunity to participate in many activities to support and develop their learning. We often enjoy creative play, including; painting, junk modelling, mark making and play dough activities.

Why I chose childcare....
I have been involved with children and various forms of childcare for many years. My passion for childminding comes from wanting to provide children with the fundamental foundations to support their learning journey and witness their successes. My aim is to create a setting where children feel safe and secure. I want my home to be a loving and caring environment, where children enjoy coming to and often do not want to leave. For my EYFS children I aim to support them with their learning and progress, following the Early Years Framework. I pride myself in my relationships with parents and always ensure `I have clear and consistent communication. I have an open door policy, where I am happy to answer any questions and support parents in any way that I can. I provide EYFS parents with a daily diary which is updated regularly to inform them of their childs/ren progress.
