My name is Karen Maddison and I am 39 years old, I live with my husband in our own home in the Hatton Park area of Wellingborough with our two children. We are an active family and enjoy the outdoors and visiting the numerous local parks and attractions.
My Experience
I have two children of my own, both girls, who are currently 10 and 7 years old. I have previously also cared for friends children and this sparked my interest in child care and development.
I regularly attend local toddler groups, the library, parks, farms, messy play and musical play sessions as well as country parks. I have a wide range of play equipment and a large private enclosed garden which is child friendly. I enjoy getting involved in play with the children to widen their experiences and help them develop as well as cuddling up for story or quiet times.
I have high chairs and double pushchairs as well as car seats suitable from birth upwards available for use.
I have a strong interest in child development and am lead by the child's interests as I have found this is the best way for them to learn and develop new skills.
I also enrol onto further child care and development qualifications to be completed alongside my childminding business to continuously strive to improve my skills.
I aim to provide a home from home setting where children feel comfortable and gain confidence to develop to their full potential.

I can be flexible and would welcome part time possibilities, I can be very accommodating with parents shifts and routines where required so do not hesitate to ask. I am also happy to take on term-time only contracts where required.
Local collection / drop off service is also available if required. I can offer before and after school care for Redwell Primary School.
I am registered for care 24/7 so can offer overnight care as / when required.

I found Karen using the Childcare website as I was looking for a suitable childminder to fit around mine and my husband’s work.
My son immediately felt comfortable and at home when we first went to see Karen, after getting to know how everything works and what would be expected, that’s when I knew that he would fit right in.
It has been almost 4 months now and he has come on all leaps and bounds. Karen is very flexible and is always helping out at the last minute if I have a shift change or if I need someone to mind my son in an emergency.
He enjoys and always looks forward to going to Karen’s and playing with her two girls who are the most lovely and kind children. She does a brilliant job and always goes out of her way to help in any way she can.
We cannot thank you enough!

Karen was a fantastic discovery, although our time was only a short with her as that's all I needed. My little boy loved the time they spent together. Karen took time to find out about him and what he enjoyed and tailored the activities to suit his interests. One day they did baking another day it was his birthday and they made party hats. We even got a little keepsake at the end of our time with lots of pictures of the things my little boy had done as well as a lovely junk model robot (Called Karen) that they had both made on his last day.
Karen is always happy, very approachable and knowledgeable.
I will be sure to make her the first person I contact and recommend in the future for any childminding needs.

I met Karen at Penrith Drive Children's Centre back when our little ones were newborns! She has become one of my closest friends and is a brilliant mum to her amazing little girl.
We have had many a play date and my little boy loves her! She is very friendly, approachable, kind and considerate and I would have absolutely no concerns in her childminding my little boy, which I am hoping she will do should I need to work extra hours and/or my nursery is fully booked.
I have seen Karen work through her childminding course with determination and confidence, and that combined with her super mummy powers makes one very inspirational lady!!
