About Me
Hi. My name is Vanessa. I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder in Tilehurst, Reading, with a grading Good. I live with my partner Scott and I have 4 children of my own, Joe, Louis, Edie and Jesse. Jesse is 2 and Edie is 9. My two older boys are studying. Joe is away at University and Louis attends long days at college. Both boys will not be present during working hours.
We live close to Tilehurst Village, a stones throw from Newbery Park. We have a 3 bedroom house with an enclosed back garden which we share with our pets. Albi, a very kind and gentle little dog, one cat Leo and 2 Guinea Pigs.
Being a mother myself, I take my chosen occupation very seriously and try to take any steps which I feel will increase my effectiveness as a Registered childminder and will constantly improve the service I provide. As with my previous job I am always keen to update and refresh my knowledge through relevant training courses.
Your child will be cared for in a homelike environment with a family atmosphere. They will receive individual attention whilst enjoying interaction with children of various ages. I will attend regular sessions at toddler groups, soft play centres etc. We will spend as much time out of the house as possible. Arthur Newbery Park will be used regularly. It's a huge park with play area and masses of opportunity for educational fun. We will also visit places such as farms, zoos, seaside etc.
I am using an online system which conforms fully to the latest EYFS. The system allows parents/carers to access your child's progress at any time. You will be able to see what your child has eaten, naps, nappy changes etc and all of the day's activities. It will allow us to communicate and share precious memories including your child's learning and development, achievements, wow moments, photographs and videos.
Under 5's will have regular observations linked to the EYFS and include samples of their work. Each month will revolve around a topic, for example, seasons, animals, transport and occupations, where planning is linked to each child's individual interests and experiences.
My Experience
Before becoming a Registered Childminder I spent 4 years in a pre-school in position of Deputy Manager, Health and Safety Manager and Fire Warden. I thoroughly enjoyed my time working with 2-5 year olds, getting to know each individual and their families. Watching and encouraging their development and preparing them for their next chapter of school life. During my time there I gained much experience and enhanced my personal development by attending courses, continually updating my knowledge.
I am also a mum and have a learnt a great deal from the children in my life, each stage, birth to teenagers.

My Availability
I have upcoming spaces for an under 5 from September as one is leaving for school. The space is for one full time and one for full days Thursdays and fridays . I also have space for before and after school care to and from Westwood Farm schools and nursery.
