About Me

Hi, my name is Rhonda and I am the owner of Fluffy Ducks Childcare in Colne. My setting has been rated OUTSTANDING in all areas, with an overall grading of OUTSTANDING by OFSTED for the 2nd time running. I have a dedicated playroom along with a separate art room. I have a large back garden which is completely dedicated to the children and has been described as MAGICAL by OFSTED. I am fully insured and CRB checked. All members of my household above 16yrs are also CRB checked. I have 3 older children and live with my fiancé Jonathan Shaw who is an artist and owns a gallery. My company name is Fluffy Ducks Childcare and I am also Accredited, which means that I am eligible to provide the free 15/30hrs nursery entitlement for 2, 3 and 4 year olds (which means if you don't want to send your child to a nursery, you have the choice to use a home based child care provider). I am also eligible to provide 15hrs free childcare when your child reaches 2 years old, through Lancashire County Council, providing you are eligible. Please enquire if you require more information regarding this.

As a child care provider, I access various playgroups, we visit various parks and places (sensory room, soft play) We visit our local library weekly for our story time session, which I set up for myself and 3 other childcare providers. This is great for the children's Speech, Language and Communication skills. We have songs, action and movement, a story and a colouring activity. We offer weekly outings, and have weekly play dates with other childminders, so your child has the opportunity to experience playing and socialising with other children outside of my setting, and making new friends in the process. I have a large minibus, so we go on lots of outings with our friends as well

I work really hard to make sure my practice works within the EYFS framework.. My home has a fully equipped playroom offering all 7 areas of the EYFS. We also have a separate art room where your child has free access to art materials, magnetic boards, chalk boards, paints, crayons etc. The children have daily group time on the rug where we do singing, a story and an educational group activity together. The children have home diaries for the parents with an insight into their day and a Record of Achievement File is kept for each child. Observations, learning journeys, and baseline assessments are held for each child, so we can see how they are developing within the EYFS Framework.

I have a large back garden with lots of play areas for the children (sandpits, construction tables , water tables, play house, small world areas, Bug Hotel, Zoo Area and a Construction Site have all been built into the garden , a large climbing frame/slide, a pipe run, balancing beams, a sound wall, abacus rail, sensory ribbons hanging from the arches, numbered stepping stones, chalkboard and much more) The garden has lots of bright colourful banners and cute signs, vibrant for your child's imagination. We also have a drive with lockable gates where we have a mini road and road signs for use with our bikes, cars etc. We also have a summer house with a home role play area inside.
I work hard to keep up with training and have a large portfolio full of training and certificates..

I have 3 children of my own, 1 boy , and 2 girls, all who are older within university and school.. I live with my fiancé Jonathan Shaw, who is an artist and owns a gallery.
