My Summary
About Me
I am 56 years old and have been married for 32 years and have 3 children 1 of whom still lives at home. Home is a detached house in a quiet cul de sac.
My last Ofsted inspection was on 23/03/2022 and I was very pleased and proud to be awarded the grade of Outstanding for the second time. Although I do have a very well stocked playroom, all the children I mind use most of the downstairs area. I also have a large back garden, again well equipped. I have been childminding for 15 years and I love my job.
I make sure the children I care for are nurtured, loved and are happy and I am pleased that they all appear to enjoy their time here and form good attachments very quickly with myself and the rest of my family. I plan lots of different activities and trips out daily in order to help children develop and achieve all their developmental milestones. I also help to run two busy toddler groups 3 times a week which all the children enjoy going to.
My Experience
I have lots of experience of working with children, apart from raising my own three children, both myself and my husband were foster carers for Tameside council and we specifically cared for babies as soon as they were born until they were adopted. Although I loved looking after the children, I found it hard to hand them over for adoption after forming such a strong attachment. I decided to become a childminder as I loved working with children and I absolutely love my job. I have a close relationship with the parents who have chosen me to look after their little ones and it’s nice to know that they appreciate me and have so many good things to say about myself and my setting as was brought to my attention by the references they all wrote to Ofsted ahead of my last inspection.
My Qualifications
As well as my wealth of experience of looking after children, I also hold my Level 3 qualification in childcare and have completed a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism and a university course in Rethinking Child Development. I have also completed a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health. I regularly attend training courses and have completed a six weeks phonics course.
I have completed the Early Years Professional Development Programme in December 2024 which has taken 9 months.
My Availability
I am able to work from 7.30 am until 5.30 pm but can be flexible with these hours when needed and have frequently worked with parents who need a 7.15 start and 6 pm pick up.
I currently drop off and pick up from Poplar Street Primary in Audenshaw
I am registered by Tameside council to offer the free 15 and 30 hour funded childcare to 9 month to 2 yr, 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

My little boy first went to Jennie when he was 2 1/2 and I was very worried about him as he had only been with myself before going back to work! I really didn’t need to worry, he was settled in the first day and never looked back! Jennie and all of her family are so welcoming and treat you like one of their family. There is plenty of love and attention for everyone. Jennie does lots of activities with the children, learning through play and having lots of fun! They are very well fed, Jennies husband is an Amazing cook, I wanted to eat with them many times myself it smelt delicious. My son started to eat many things he wouldn’t entertain at home. The children have fruit daily, but are not forced if it’s not something they like. Jennie is so caring and loving to all the children, Jennie will help if she can, last year I was very ill and Jennie was like a Mum to me, she is one of the most caring people I have ever met. I couldn’t ask for anyone better. I personally feel like I have gained a friend in Jennie, she is loved by everyone who meets her. You’re an amazing lady and a credit to your profession Jennie.
My son has been going to jennies since he was around 9 months old and is 3 now and he absolutely loves it there(he wakes up cheering when its jen jen day). Jennie is fantastic with the kids and seeing the progression my son is making with jennie in terms of potty training, academic and social skills I couldn't thank her enough. She goes above and beyond for both the kids and for us as parents when we have needed some help or advice even out of hours she has been happy to help us and would recommend jennie 100%.
Our son has been with Jennie since he was a baby, he is now 3 and we couldn't be happier with the top quality care he has received. Our first meeting with Jennie and a tour of the property we knew this would be the start of something great, we had no concerns at all. The kids Jennie look after genuinely form part of her family and of all those whose children she looks after.
He is excited on the days he goes, currently 3 and at no point has he ever complained about having to go or been upset when he has been dropped off, in fact with our son was immediately settled and we would be lucky to get a wave goodbye.
He is well fed and watered and Jennie always provides lots of activities for the kids to do always mindful of the learning involved. We love getting photos of what he is getting up to throughout the day and the stories he tells on the drive home.
Jennie is always accommodating and has been able to assist in terms of flexibility when emergencies have occured. She genuinely loves each and every kids she has and it will be a very sad day when our soon eventually has to stop going, hopefully not until he is 18!
I have recently started using Jennie for the school holidays and my son absolutely adores her. The second I walked in Jennie’s home myself and my partner felt immediately comfortable and at ease. She went through everything and answered all our questions and I immediately knew it felt right (plus the fact Jennie is full the majority of the time so we have to wait till September for a space for before/after school, lol). She is so lovely and you can tell she genuinely cares for the children she minds. Not only that, her environment provides a fun and safe place and is located around the corner from the school I want my son to go to within walking distance. She also is flexible to suit the parents which I found some that are very strict on times and late fees etc. This week my son has been up and ready (which is usually a painful process) and out of the door because he knows where he is going, he even said “I love Jennie” and he doesn’t want to come home with me when I pick him up after a long day! I was so skeptical and worried about changing from private nursery to a childminder and public school nursery and so far it’s been the best decision.
