My Summary
About Me
I am an experienced Nanny and Teacher. I have looked after children from babies to teenagers with varying needs (physically impaired and various SEND including ADHD and ASD).
I am currently a Primary School Teacher in my 5th year of teaching. I am DBS checked with a degree in Education and provide babysitting and private tutoring in my spare time.
I live in Ewell (close to Tolworth) and have a full UK licence with a car.
I would describe myself as energetic, enthusiastic, organised and reliable. I pride myself in building a strong rapport with children and when asked how the children in my class would describe me, they stated: “fun, funny, cool, caring, open-minded, understanding, smiling all the time and strict but not too strict because we still have fun in lessons and you make us laugh”.
One of the most rewarding things about my job is seeing the children progress whether this be academically, socially or emotionally. Recently, I was able to engage an autistic child for the whole PE lesson, which I was covering, for the first time as they would usually leave from boredom after 10 minutes. I have also encouraged children in my class to finish chapter books when they had previously never had an interest in reading. Parents have commended me for boosting their children’s confidence and allowing them to push themselves with their learning.
As a babysitter, parents have commented that I do well managing the children, reinforcing good behaviour & manners and keeping them engaged in activities.
I enjoy cooking, mindful activities and fun days out- I often have a football, basketball and skateboard in my car when it’s sunny. I have also recently taken an interest in up-cycling & sewing - I am currently making a denim bag out of dungarees!
I have taken many CPD courses and feel confident in applying different behaviour management strategies and providing a safe and nurturing environment for children.
My Experience
I have been looking after children for around 12 years now as it has always been something that I enjoyed from an early age. I started with occasional babysitting and moved towards nannying positions which involved: getting children ready for school; picking children up from school; planning activities, crafts & days out; cooking and baking together and occasional house duties such as shopping and tidying.
I have also worked in an after school club which involved organising activities, hygiene and allergy awareness when handling food and providing an overall safe environment for children.
