About Me
My name is Ali Thomas, I am a CIW registered childminder and I live in the Cwm Talwg area of Barry with my husband and our two adorable pug dogs . We all love rock music and attending concerts and festivals. We love to walk the dogs at the beach and take them camping with us in the summer. Friends and family are very important to us and we love to meet them for coffee at the lovely cafes we have dotted all around Barry. I love crafting of all sorts and love to be creative with recycled items, I love to sew and make cards for all occasions. I like to bake cakes and grow vegetables .
My Experience
I am a CIW registered childminder , previously having been an early years ( age 3-7 ) teacher for twenty five years. I taught locally in Barry at the same school for twenty years, building fantastic relationships with several generations of children and families and gaining life long friends along the way. I decided to become a childminder as I love to nuture and support children in their learning, social and physical development. As a childminder I can spend quality individual time with the children in my care , overseeing and providing fun, engaging activities that will develop your child's learning, social, physical and emotional well being.
I have a wealth of experience in dealing with a variety of special needs. I have experience of working with visually impaired children, children with hearing loss, children with ASD and ADHD, children with cerebal palsy ,cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy.
I have a wealth of positive behaviour management skills I can draw on and believe in modelling positive behaviour and rewarding positive behaviour.
My home has a dedicated purpose built playroom stocked full to bursting with quality resources . I have plenty of toys for all ages and interests, ranging from new born upwards. The toys I have , have been carefully chosen to support role play, free play , language development , social development , physical and creative development. My garden area is safe , secure and enclosed and is flat so we can use ride on toys, bikes and have sand and water activities outside . I also like to involve the children in planting seeds and growing vegetables.

My Availability
My hours are 8.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday.
I offer before and after school care, full days and half days, plus wraparound care for Nursery age children. I cover Romilly Primary School and Nursery.
I do not work on Bank Holidays

I've had to create a new account in order to do write this, because Ali blocked my previous account!
Ali had been our childminder for 2.5 years, and mostly we've had a good relationship. I can say that Ali does care deeply for the children she cares for, something I never had a concern about. The review below was from me 2 years ago, she was like family to us.
A complaint had been issued to CIW regarding some issues, but our biggest grievance with Ali was simply when we had to terminate our contract due to a change in circumstances with my work. For some reason, Ali seemed to take this really personally and became quite difficult meaning we were not comfortable leaving our son with her.
We were upset by the way Ali handled this because she had become a big part of our family and our son thought dearly of her, as did we.

Marie signed a PACEY contract to give a months notice if needing to terminate a contract. I totally understand that circumstances change , and people need to terminate care, I am always understanding if this. However being bullied to terminate the contract early is not something I can afford to do . And in this case , this is what happened .
3 years ago I made the decision to change from a private nursery to Ali Tots, and it was the best decision for my children who thrive with Ali, are nurtured, have fun and love Ali Tots and Ali! Ali is a special lady who everybody loves especially children. My girls are excited to go there, love the outings from St Fagans, dinosaur kingdom, parks, beach days to ice cream parlour treats to name a few. My children are nurtured, loved, accepted, and I can not recommend Ali highly enough, she is amazing!!! My girls also adore Ali's pugs, an added bonus for my girls.

My son has been going to Ali since he was 8.5 months old and I couldn't be happier with the progress he's made while being with her. She made the whole going back to work experience much more bearable knowing he was being cared for by someone who is genuine and wants the best for him like we do. Literally couldn't recommend Ali more, she's a true gem and my son adores her. 👍😊
