I live in Hebburn and do school pick ups and drop offs at toner avenue school.
My setting is very much a homely setting where we do lots of fun activities song time, story time, arts and crafts ,role play ,outside play including sand and water activities outdoor equipment to help children’s development and engages children’s interests.
This is all risks assessed to provide safe outdoor play .
We go on lots of outings we visit a lot of farms ,parks ,libary, messy play activities ,sensory play and playgroups where the children get to interact with other children regularly. I run a local playgroup every week which is lovely to see all children make little friendships and interact regularly with others.
I really enjoy working with children of all ages I get to watch them, teach them, help them learn grow and play and watch them develop their little personalities which is lovely to see, this also helps to explore their likes/dislikes.
I follow the eyfs framework and i track the childs development and build up a learning journal of their development ,targets,next steps and much more.
I also complete a daily diary for parents to let them know what fun their child has been having throughout their day.
I offer the 30 hours childcare and the 15hours funded childcare which is available for 2,3 & 4 year olds..
My Experience
I have my own 2 children who are 13 & 11 I have gained valuable hands on experience through having them. I have worked in nurserys where I have done my placements with my NVQ 's also I did voluntary work in a nursery. I really enjoy my job I have been doing it for nearly 8 years now and I love it... I also run local playgroup called jolly tots at hartleyburn in hebburn .. i have children of all ages from babies , nursey age children and older children too so ive had experince of a mix of all ages over the years.. and it’s the most rewarding job I’ve done.. seeing the children playing, happy , staying safe, making friends and watch and help them learn and grow is lovely to see.

Gemma has looked after my little girl since I returned back to work in 2021. She’s been a massive part of all Belles milestones and worked hand in hand with us every step of the way. Belle always comes back and tells us how much fun she’s had and what’s she’s been getting up to. Would recommend Gemma to everyone!
Belle has only just stopped going to Gemma’s to join nursery to prepare her for school. Thank you to Gemma, Steven and the kids for being so welcoming and looking after us!

Just getting around the writing this review. My little girl started with Gemma last year and throughout that time Eva was well looked after and had great fun. Gemma is caring and offered flexibility with our forever changing shifts ! Steven ( Gemmas husband ) and their two children are fantastic.
We only left because we had new shifts and were able to manage ourselves. I know all the young ones have lots of fun and feel safe and happy !

It was lovely to look after your little girl for the time I did , she settled in so well and was always a great part of little gem’s xx
My son has been going to Gemma since March this year and he loves it. He has fitted in a seamlessly and Gemma and her family treat him like one of their own. The environment is fab and he thrives in it. She is constantly out and about with the kids and always has lots of activities planned for them. My sons development is coming on in leaps and bounds with her interaction.
She has made the transition going back into full time work very easy for me. Also with this being my first child her advice has been amazing. Always on hand even out of hours for brain picking! We would be lost without her !
I cannot recommend Gemma highly enough.
