I am an Ofsted registered child minder.
I currently have spaces available for children in the early years and after school care Valley Road and Grangetown primary Schools Sunderland from sept 2024.
I have been registered since 2011. My recent ofsted inspection was graded good on 8.3.2019. I am 46 years old. I live with my husband who is my ofsted registered assistant and my son Daniel who is 6 years. I drop off and collect from Valley road nursery, preschool, and school I also drop off and collect from grangetown nursery and school.
We live on a quiet street on Manila street Grangetown Sunderland. I child mind from my house on Manila street, Grangetown.
I offer 15 free hours paid from the government for 2 year olds (parents claiming certain benefits)
I offer 15 free hours paid from the government for 3 and 4 year olds.
I offer 30 free hours paid from the government for working parents
I have cared for babies and children from very young ages from 7.15am until 6pm Monday to Friday until they start nursery then school and then drop off and collect children from school. The children feel welcomed and part of our family and have lots of fun.
I have experience of working in both Schools and Nurseries when completing my GNVQ Health and Social Care course. In April 2013 I completed my Level 3 diploma for the children and young people's work force (Early learning and childcare). Some time ago before I became a child Minder, I was a child minding assistant, I come from a large family including my parents, two sisters and one brother. From an early age was always called upon for babysitting duties from friends and family.
I try to make the experience at my home very enjoyable for the children in my care and have received excellent written comments/reviews from the children's parents (which are available for you to read). I really enjoy my job and I find it very rewarding seeing the children in my care, grow, learn and progress.
I live with my husband we have been together eighteen years, Jeff. Jeff is also my child minding assistant, he is Ofsted registered, up-to-date with training, and has a valid paediatric first aid and food hygiene certificates. We both feel the children in our care benefit from both male and female role models. my son Daniel is 5 years old.
We live in a smoke free environment, in a quiet street on Manila street, Grangetown Sunderland within walking distance to Sunderland city centre, I also have one cat, Milly.
We currently have spaces available, we are very flexible on days and times to meet the needs of parents.
We care for children from birth to teenagers. We are willing to look after children from 4 to 13 hours a day.
My home is warm, comfortable and welcoming. We provide the children in our care a happy, safe, caring, educational and a playful place to be.
My main school pick and drop offs are VALLEY ROAD PRIMARY SCHOOL GRANGE TOWN PRIMARY SCHOOL.
My Experience
As well as play activities. I focus on children getting enough exercise during play. We take the children in our care to parks, go on sensory beach walks, farms, museums. Also take part in nature walks looking out for animals such as squirrels, different kinds of birds on the way and nature quizzes for the older children.
We have an outdoor area where children can get involved in outdoor sensory fun activities including water play and sensory play. The children plant and grow things in our sensory garden.
During the week I organise age appropriate activities to help babies, toddlers and children learn and progress through play. Examples crafts, painting playing and making play dough, cooking, messy play, story and nursery rhyme time. I arrange activities that children are interested in.
There are a variation of toys supplied to suite every age of children from birth to teens. Examples sensory toys, dress up, dolls, cars, musical instruments books too many to list.

Helen and Jeff have made a big difference to my son’s life. They both helped me with potty training, Ashton’s speech, behaviour and other departments in Ashton’s life. There time keeping is brilliant and they are both very reliable. From day one I have felt safe with leaving my son with Helen and Jeff they are friendly and make sure I feel relaxed with everything they do with my son. Ashton has been a Hugh responsibility to them from March 2011 until August 2012 and they have never let me down or made me feel dis appointed through out Ashton's time with them. It was heart breaking losing my job as I could no longer afford Ashton’s child care. They grew a lovely bond together and Ashton loves the other kids.
I have a personal opinion of Helen and Jeff which, is they are lovely, kind and caring people. I could n’t ask for better care for my now 3 year old son.

I couldn’t recommend Helen and Geoff enough. My son Ray has been minded and took to and from school from the age of 3/4. He has developmental delay and needed a lot of attention at that age. I was apprehensive at first knowing how much attention he needed but needn’t have worried at all. Updates via text throughout the day are provided with photos of my son and all the wonderful activities he gets up to with his friends. Ray often asks to go to Helens when it’s not his allocated day. They have birthday parties for the children and it is evident of how much care and attention they put into caring for the kids. My work hours have changed throughout my sons time with Helen and that hasn’t been a problem, Helen is very flexible and nothing is a bother for her. They often go to the park, beach paint, bake and plant seeds. My son is 7 now and would probably go to Helen’s even when I’m not working as he enjoys his time there so much. I Couldn't have imagined for a better family to look after my son and peace of mind while I’m at work.

My little brother had been going to Helen and Jeffs for about 6 years and my Mam always spoke very highly of them so when it came to making a decision about childcare for my own little girl it wasn’t a hard choice to make…Helen and Jeff have been fantastic childminders to both of my girls now with the oldest starting with them when she was 11 months old and the youngest when she was 9 months old. Both girls thrive when they’re with Helen and Jeff and always have a lot of fun. I also like the updates Helen sends (especially when they were younger) because it gives peace of mind that my babies are absolutely fine. I would highly recommend!

Myself and my partner were very nervous leaving our first child in childcare at 8 months old. We contacted Helen as she had already cared for a family member but also debated a nursery setting… after the initial meeting we decided that Helens Little Angels was the perfect place for Penny. Helen and Jeff are so welcoming and have been very accommodating with changes and flexibility. 2 years on and Penny still waves us off at the door, has made friends with all of the other children and thinks of Helen, Jeff and Daniel as family. Daily picture and text message updates are so reassuring and it’s nice to see what she gets up to. She loves getting involved in all the activities and tells us all about what she has learnt at Helen’s house. Helen is very professional and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Helens Little Angels to anyone looking for childcare!

I can’t recommend Helen and Jeff enough to look after your children. My son Brandon has been with Helen and Jeff since he was 1 year old and is now coming up to 7 year old. She has helped massively with his development and especially his speech which he received speed therapy for. My youngest son Jacob has been with Helen and Jeff since he was 10 month old and is now nearly 4 year old, they have helped with development, social skills and potty training. The care and attention they receive is amazing and they always say how much they love being with Helen and Jeff. They help with school and nursery drop off and pick ups which they have formed a relationship with the boys teachers also. They love going to Helen and Jeffs in the holidays as they go on nature walks, trips to the beach and to local parks. They have film days, learning days with toys and baking. Helen and Jeff even celebrate birthdays with them and have a birthday party so they have celebrate with their friends. There’s also flexibility with days and times during term and out of term time. Receiving photos of them during the day is a massive bonus to see what they have been getting up to. We also love receiving their development report and seeing how much the boys have progressed with Helen and Jeff. I can’t thank them enough for all they have done for us.

I was new to the area and was practically stuck on which childminder to mind my little one when I’m at work.
My first contact with Helen was very lovely and everything else has remained the same.
I feel very relaxed leaving my 18months old son with Helen. I have no worries at all because I know he is well cared for.
Helen is very kind and considerate and would do all she could to accommodate my schedules. She keeps me updated on all that happens with pictures to back up.
I would recommend her over and over again. Thank you Helen.
