Hi! My name is Ruth and I am an Ofsted registered childminder working alongside my husband as my assistant. Graded outstanding in all areas since 2015, Being a husband and wife team gives the children both male and female role models. We offer a flexibility of service that is difficult to find in other provisions. We provide first class quality care for your child in a warm, loving and caring environment. Each child is an individual, children are allowed to be children, to develop at their own pace and become confident, caring people in their own right.
I am a professionally, qualified nursery nurse (BTEC Higher national diploma in early years care and education). I have over thirty years experience of working with children in schools and managing a nursery, before becoming a childminder in 2006. I now feel I am in the unique position to offer all the benefits of a nursery education with the flexibility of home based care..
I am a member of Professional Association for Childcare and Early Years (PACEY), and have their legal and public liability insurance I am also part of the Wakefield childminding network. I am registered with the environmental health and hold a basic food hygiene certificate. We are trained in paediatric first aid and hold a current level 3 certificates. Full medical and police checks have been carried out on all members of my family.
We provide a small-scale, home-based childcare provision, where parents know their children's safety and well-being is paramount and can feel happy leaving their children in our care.
We are different from many pre-schools or nurseries because we are highly motivated mature qualified people. We operate with lower child to adult ratios, which means your child will have more attention. By staying small we believe we are able to provide the quality care and nurturing atmosphere that your child deserves with the added benefit of a home environment.
Our main goal is to encourage your child to have fun whilst they learn new skills. To help develop their social skills, and encourage creative expression. Young children learn best from participating in and observing the environment around them. We provide a huge variety of toys including tactile and sensory toys for little ones. We also offer academic stimulation following the ’Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. We positively encourage the children to participate in a variety of activities ranging from art and craft projects to games, songs, finger plays, story telling, creative dramatics, exercises, science and much more. Your child will have their own profile with observations, evaluations, photos, and examples of work, which parents and carers can access at any time, your child’s profile will build over time and will become a real memento of the time spent with us. Children are also taken to visit a local minder and toddler group to give them the opportunity for social interaction with a larger group of children, as well as play centres and toddler groups in the area.
