My Experience

My name is Laura and I have thirty plus years of experience working with children in various settings.

I am currently working as a teaching assistant within a federation of six schools part time now, but was fulltime before cutting down hours to go and pursue my nannying career. I have worked within a school setting for the last sixteen years, but working as a nanny during the school holidays and after school and evening care.

I worked through lockdown to enable a previous employer to go and do their amazing work, as a paediatric Doctor within a local NHS hospital.

I am available for some day's in the school holidays,
The current family that I am working with have three amazing children whom are know 12, 9 and 7 years old ( I have been with them for just over 4 years). The parents also have very demanding jobs, one of which is working as a paediatric Doctor too, in a local hospital. The need to be reliable, flexible have someone who works alongside the family, most definitely nurturing but can also think independently is a must.

I'm currently working 4 afternoons a week during term time and longer days during school holidays. At present , I have availability Fridays after school.


I am very flexible, adaptable and easy going person, I enjoy cooking, the outdoors and making and doing. I have been a thrive practitioner and am the go to person for children that are having emotional, social, well being and behavioural difficulties and children that EHCP plans for different reasons.Being in a school environment I am registered with Ofsted and just recently been inspected in may 2023. I have a DBS, up to date first aid, phonics trained ( Little Wandle) and had training in speech and language. I have worked 1-1 with many children with autism or on the spectrum, including the boy I nanny for who has just been diagnosed with Autism and ADHD ( which was obvious that he was on the spectrum). I understand the challenges, because of the way the brain works differently. It can have a impact on said child, siblings, friendships and life itself.

I also previous to Covid worked for six years worked as an enabler for a severely disabled boy two evenings a week in their own home . However since the covid 19 outbreak it has made it not possible to do so due to his susceptibility. Although I still managed to help out in anyway that I can by bulk cooking once a week or collecting shopping and collecting medications.

My Qualifications

Paediatric 1st aid training, over, 30 years experience. level 2 teaching assistant,

phonics training, special needs experience, epi pen training and insulin injection experience. Sensory processing, behaviour in the Primary classroom. Mental health course( it's ok not to be ok.) Internet safety course on how to keep children safe online and are our children suffering from Anxiety? CV available on request.

My Availability

I have availability on Fridays after school term times and some availability during school holidays too.

• Nannying from £16.00 per hour (gross)
