About Us

Smiles Day Nursery opened its doors in October 2016 as an OFSTED registered nursery and pre-school providing safe, flexible, pocket friendly childcare without compromising on quality or fun for children aged 0 to 5 years.
We also offer Before and After-school care across the county at 4 different locations.

What we believe!

We acknowledge the formative early years of a child’s life as crucial to their future learning, development and life chances.

At Smiles we follow the child's interests and with this in mind we have introduced lots of different play opportunities, we have filled our nursery with a variety of play based products, Loose Parts Play and Authentic resources so that children can learn through realistic experiences and magical play.

The nursery has a sensory area for small group time and is a lovely space for children to explore lights, sounds and textures. We are also in the process of setting up another sensory space in our preschool.

Our children often go out on the Smiles mini bus to designated safe spaces with staff members to explore the local surroundings. They enjoy trips to places such as Burbage common, Fosse meadows as well as local shops.

We gained our updated Healthy Tots accreditation recently with our Healthy eating menus, shared mealtimes and dedication to supporting children's oral health.

Alongside our Healthy eating we also offer a Drama Tots session once a week this includes lots of imaginative and active story telling, this takes place in our large indoor play area. We use the outside area at the park to offer in house sports sessions to help children develop their gross motor skills.

Within our village there is a community allotment and we have taken on a small plot, we are going to be planting lots of herbs and some vegetables so the children can see them grow and also enjoy harvesting them when they are ready.

We have an active involvement with the local care home which we visit weekly to share activities with the residents.

The local library is a great place for us to help support children's early reading skills and we visit weekly to borrow books and share stories with the volunteers of the library.

We believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, helping them to develop into happy, confident, sociable and independent people.

At Smiles we achieve this by working closely with parents and families to ensure tailored care and education for each child, guided by their own unique set of experiences, interests and needs. We embrace individuality, quality and diversity; we value every child and their family, thus promoting a culture of respect, confidence and positive self-esteem.

Who will be looking after your little ones?

Smiles operate a safe recruitment policy, carry out DBS checks on all staff and employ a high quality, experienced team of Early Years practitioners with qualifications ranging from NVQ level 3 in childcare and education to NVQ level 6 BA honours degree in early childhood studies.
Our practitioners undertake regular training to ensure up to date knowledge and guidance.

What will your little ones be doing?

The nursery host a variety of rooms such as four age appropriate activity rooms, a realistic home corner with authentic resources which children love and use their imaginations, story corner, social dining room, nap room and large indoor garden.
We offer a wide range of things to do; each room has age appropriate activities to freely explore from imaginary play, construction to arts and crafts, as well as daily story time, outside play at the park or inside play in our garden room.

The Smiles preschool is our sister site which is self contained within the grounds of Hinckley Parks primary school and offers childcare from 2 Years. It has a large outdoor learning space with it's own growing garden, mud kitchen and outdoor story den. The main room hosts wonderful resources including their own fish to care for.
