My Experience
I have had the blessed journey to learn so much in such little time and I have loved every minute of it. My professional career in caring for vulnerable young people started when I was working at Manor Hill Day Nursery. Throughout this experience allowed me to develop many skills such as working as part of a dynamic team, gaining the confidence to make my own decisions in which where in the children's best interest. Leading a room and managing staff providing them with the support and guidance that they required and undertake supervisions. I have a caring nurturing approach and always ensure that the child is the main focus of everything I do as I am very child focused. I ensured that the children within my care where at the right developmental age and progressing by working alongside the EYFS to ensue I was meeting all the targets that I had set for the children.
I always focus on maintaining a safe warm homely environment for children within my care and strongly believe in a home from home atmosphere.
I then had the opportunity to further my career path within residential settings where I have developed in so many ways, I have had many opportunities to work alongside registered managers and grow into the person I am today. Throughout my experience in working within residential settings I have ensured that I provided a tailored, positive and highly beneficial experience for all the young people in which I have worked with. I have been providing high quality care in a loving caring environment ensuring that they feel safe and valued. I have been very lucky to be a part of so many young people's lives within this industry, and be able to watch them grow and flourish into mature young adults, seeing the changes that not only myself but the staff that I have been managing have made and the significant difference from when they first came into care to when they leave. I have been able to positively transition young people back to their home environment and also into adult services, ensuring they have the skills that are required to go out into the big world.
Throughout my journey I have witnessed and played a big part in the first-hand challenges in which a manager faces on a daily basis, and have been able to support them in facing these challenges ensuring that the home is meeting the requirements of Ofsted and the staff and young people are kept safe at all costs. I work well under pressure and am a professional with wide knowledge of resources in the community, laws and regulations, methods and principles of casework, and supervision and training. I am able to supervise and lead colleagues, students and agency workers on cases, as well as to establish and maintain effective working relationships with young people that have been admitted to the homes and build up positive relationships with professionals and parents.
I have an extensive knowledge of care work principles, techniques and practices and have played a big part of the referral and matching process to the home ensuring that the young people whom are admitted to our house reflect not only on the statement of purpose but also do not have impact on the other young people in the setting. group work, and community issues.
I would like to say that I have an easy going by nature and able to get along with both colleagues and senior managers, I am currently looking to progress within my career and support families and get back into what I love most and am passionate about.
