My Experience

I am an Ofsted registered childminder working from my home on the Oakdale / Fernhurst Estate in the Ewood area of Blackburn with my husband.
I have a dedicated children's play area in my back garden which offers a variety of activity equipment and other toys for children to develop their skills and just be kids in a safe environment.
We also go out to playgroups, soft play areas, nature reserves and parks etc. every morning if possible for social interaction and valuable real life experiences
I work hard to ensure that the children in my care are taught the appropriate skills to ensure they become well rounded caring individuals. I believe in good manners, taking turns and sharing as well as caring for others and the environment. I teach boundaries and consequences and request that parents work with me to consolidate these skills at home.
I have attended and completed a number of relevant training (detailed below) and I continue to study and develop my knowledge to enhance the experiences of the children in my care. I have worked in the care sector since I was 20, working predominantly with adults who have learning disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviours. I have also spent 5 years as a foster carer and about 3 years working in primary schools and nurseries as a SSA.
I am registered with Blackburn with Darwen Early Years Team to provide funded places for children aged 9mth+ as well as the Local Offer for SEND children.

My Availability

I do not have any vacancies until September 2025. I will be retiring in September 2027.

My Fees

• Childminding from £4.75 per hour

Full day up to 8 hours £40 and £4.75 per hour thereafter. This includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and planned trips out.


After school £13 (up to 5.30pm). This includes collection from the Redeemer only. Snacks & drinks are included.

Holiday care up to 8 hours £40 and £4.75 per hour thereafter. This includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and most planned trips out. Special trips to the zoo, theme parks etc will need entrance fees covering.

I accept 15 and 30 hour funded places. Please note though that the hours are for a 38 week year so I will "stretch" the hours to the 47 weeks I work.
Parents will need to make up any difference not covered by the funding. The funding is for the care component only and does not cover meals & trips out, playgroup fees etc. I charge £2 per day to cover this and, whilst this is a voluntary contribution, it will mean that your child can get the most of their time with me.

My charges agreed in the contract are set, regardless of whether a child is with me or not. The fee keeps the place open for the child's sole use during term time and holidays.

If you wish to reserve a place, a 50% retainer fee will apply but this is for a maximum of 4 weeks, unless by prior arrangement and only when the contract has been agreed and signed.
