My Requirements

I am looking for 2 days of after school care for our daughter Joanie (8). Joanie is a very happy and friendly girl. Joanie gets back from school at 4pm on a schoolbus and we take her at 6.30pm. Joanie has a genetic condition and is physically and developmentally delayed. All training will be provided about the additional needs she has and I am not necessarily looking for someone who has worked with disabled children before - I just would like someone who is willing to learn and isn't weird around disabled people! Joanie is a very happy and giggly girl and it is a delight to spend time with her. The main aspect of training will be around her feeding, as she is 100% tube-fed via a button in her tummy. It is simple to learn! She is also visually impaired, non-verbal, and non-mobile but we have specialist seating for her and a height-adjustable nappy changing area and her room is on the ground floor. We have a mobile hoist and a ceiling hoist. She’s 20kg so we actually just lift her ourselves still but you can use the hoist if you prefer. It is easy to tell how she feels as she's very expressive with her facial expressions and noises. We will provide training for using the hoist.

We are looking for a kind and funny person (Joanie loves it if you make her laugh with silly noises and tickles!) who is willing to learn.

We would need two days a week, ideally Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We would also love to discuss extra days or hours during school holidays if that is a possibility.
