About Me
Bright and colourful Nursery Nurse/Babysitter available. I have a son who has flown the nest . I love music and going to gigs, festivals , cooking and reading . I love doing arts and crafts with children and have a file full of activities and display work that I have done in the past. I am reliable and punctual. I was a volunteer at Rainbows for 4-7 year old girls and had been doing so since April 2017 although I had to give it up for a paid position with Leeds City Council in july 2023. I love pets, I have a cat but I'm used to dogs. I don't drive but I can walk or get a bus/taxi within a reasonable distance. I have recently reactivated my account due to a childcare position coming to an end after 4 years.
My Experience
I have a broad range of experience, from working with premature babies, toddlers to special needs and young people in the past 25 years although I took a few years out to be a housewife which I wasn't very good at!! Im currently a support worker to a child with a chromosome disorder who is peg fed with, epilepsy and other complex needs after school twice a week unless she's in respite care and i worked with a teenager with non verbal autism and a learning disability for 18 months. In the past I was a nanny for a 9 month old baby for 3 1/2 years and then her newborn sister until lockdown, I babysit for a family of 5 who have 3 children under the age of 6 on an ad hoc basis and a boy with ADHD .I worked for Reed Care for some years in a wide variety of settings including schools for SEN, children's centres, children in the care of the local authority, respite care units, children whose parents were in homeless shelters , children who have witnessed DV and are in safe houses and children displaying challenging behaviour as well as private day nurseries, mainstream nurseries and reception classes.
My Qualifications
I qualified as a nursery nurse in 1996 (my diploma is in my maiden name) I have a safeguarding young people certificate and a current enhanced DBS along with doing a paediatric first aid course. I have 2 files full of activities I've done over the past 20 years which can be adapted for all age ranges and abilities
My Availability
I'm free pretty much any time until around 3 and after 7 Monday to Thursday depending upon where you live - I work in Meanwood. I'm available for overnight sitting, sleeping or waking nights as well as New Years Eve. Please note I am not a registered childminder so I'm unable to accept childcare vouchers.

I am so glad I found Jo, she’s been brilliant looking after my 11yr old autistic daughter for when she gets home from school. She’s very reliable and my daughter warmed to her instantly and didn’t want her to leave. Thank you for doing such an amazing job with her Jo!

Jo73 is absolutely amazing. She took care of my daughter effortlessly. My daughter had a great time with her playing and laughing the whole time.

Joanne was fantastic with our daughter and made myself and my partner comfortable with leaving her to care for her, especially as this was our first time leaving her with a sitter. Joanne instantly started interacting with our daughter and quickly got her playing, which, given how shy she can be with strangers was a brilliant start. Highly recommend.
