Hello, Welcome to Butterflies Childminding services. My name is Karen. I am an Ofsted registered childminder in Carlton, Nottingham .I am a mum to 3 grown-up boys and Nana to 2 beautiful Granddaughters. My youngest son still lives at home with me,
I also share my home with Oscar, my Westie, Harvey, my cat and Zulu, my Amazon Parrot

I have worked in childcare and Education for 35+ years.
I began providing homebased childcare in 2018, prior to this I worked as a TA in a school foundation unit for 12 years (specializing in speech, Language and communication and supporting Children on the Autism spectrum. I also worked in ks1
I co-mind with my Daughter-in-law Mon-Wed and work on my on my own Thurs-Fri
I/we offer welcoming, safe, secure, home based care in an stimulating, engaging and fun environment. our ethos is Child-led learning and we follow in the moment planning in order to deliver our curriculum and support all children in our care to develop to their full potential, at their own pace and following their interests.
We have a very flexible outlook and adapt to children's individual needs.
I strive to provide a safe secure loving environment in which your child can thrive.
I have a dedicated play room with a large range of toys and equipment to provide activities for play based, child led learning covering all areas of the Early Years foundation stage Birth - 5 yrs.
I have a large garden which we make full use of, offering opportunities to support development in all areas
There are lots of groups / activities for all ages in my local area which we make full use of, including stay and play groups, soft play, parks, woods, forest school, gymnastics, music groups and library.
I aim to give your child rich and varied experiences during the most important years in their childhood.
I also provide a School drop off and pick up service, as well as holiday care for children aged 5+
My local schools are Carlton infant / Junior academy.
I hold a full driving licence.

My Experience

12 years As a Level 5 TA in a school foundation unit in both F1 (nursery) and F2 (reception).
Delivering SEN support including working closely with children with autism spectrum conditions, ADHD, sensory processing disorders, anxiety and attachment needs.
Specialism in supporting children's speech language and communication development (this has become a real passion!)
KS1 (yr1) TA delivering KS1 curriculum and 1:1 SEN support, slc support.
Working with and supporting parents.
Counselor for childline.
Working as a playworker for surestart with parents and children aged birth - 3 years.
10 years working in a pre-school with children 3 - 5 years.
Creche worker.
Most importantly a Mum and Nana!

Supporting Children with SEN - Level 3
Supporting Children's Speech, Language and communication - ELKLAN Level 3 Accredited

My Availability
My working hours are 7.30 am - 17.00pm Mon - Fri.
Half day is 7.30 - 12.30 or 12.30 - 17.00.
Occasional evenings in child's own home (baby sitting) may be arranged by agreement (additional charges apply)

I am SO happy I found Butterflies for my little boy.....He absolutely loves it here! I feel so comfortable knowing that he is in loving & caring hands when I go off to work.....Highly recommended aslong as you don't get jealous when your little one isn't fussed on coming home with you when you go to collect them, haha! And the Baby Days App that they use to keep you up-to-date with your child's day is awesome!
