My Summary
About Me
Hi there,
I have worked as a childminder for 23 years gaining a high level of qualifications which are updated regularly. I live with my husband and cat. My son is now 33 and does not live with us. We are CRB checked and First Aid trained.
I live in Northfield near Victoria special school just off Shenley Lane, which is convenient for any schools/nurseries in the Northfield/Weoley Castle or Selly Oak areas.
I have a large garden with a good range of outside play equipment and a large patio so children can use it all year.
I have lots of art/craft materials for children to get creative which I encourage.
Childminding for me is a vocation. I enjoy watching children in my care grow in confidence when they reach a new achievement.
I am an Accredited childminder which means I can offer the free 15 hours nursery education funding for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
I take children to various groups to socialise and take part in art activities etc run by childminders, plus visits to local library and parks
My Experience
I have 23 years experience of working with children and babies. I enjoy getting the children to learn through play and have Outstanding for "Enjoying and Acheiving" on my Ofsted inspections. I prepare the children well for nursery/school education when they are ready to move on.
I think I am a good role model for children, being patient and calm with them whilst allowing them to enjoy having fun and being creative too. I enjoy reading stories and educating children when I feel they are ready for this.
We regularly visit the local library and parks, and take children out on trips in the summer and at Christmas.

Wendy is an an excellent childminder who consistently offered high standards of care to all three of my children. Wendy first minded our ten year old twins from aged 3. She quickly built up a warm and nurturing environment, and both children settled quickly. Wendy has a plenty of toys, games and garden toys for children to play with, and the food she provided was well enjoyed by all three! My youngest son was minded from aged 1. Any anxieties i had about leaving him were quickly alleviated, as Wendy settled him so quickly and easily. He rarely wanted to leave at the end of the day because he had enjoyed himself so much!. Wendy likes to take her children out and bout during the day, visiting various playgroups and parks. Arts and crafts are part of the day, and my youngest always had something to bring me at the end of the day what he had made. He picked up lots of new skills during his time with Wendy and talks about her lots. The NEF funding for nursery aged children was applied for very promptly to help us as parents with the cost, and her rates are very reasonable for the care your children receive.

MY girls went to Wendy when they were 8. Months old. They soon got into a routine and settled in fine and were well cared for. They thrived with their pre school learning activities (letters, number and words etc). They went out to play groups or libraries each day. A lot of time was spent outside in the well equipped garden with enough activities for everyone , when the weather was fine. Wendy taught them a wide variety of values for life skills. When they started school they still went to Wendy's in the holidays and had days out with her and other minded children. They still went when they were 8 apparently it was more fun than at home with mom. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Wendy to anyone.

Wendy has done after school care of my son since he started school, he is really happy and settled with Wendy and I am always confident that he is safe and well cared for. He does a wide range of activities including playing outside when the weather allows and lots of arts and crafts.
I would definitely recommend Wendy as a childminder as she treats each child in her care as an individual and makes sure their needs are met.
Overall I have been really happy with the service provided by Wendy.

My daughter has been with Wendy since she was 6 months old, she is now 2 and half years old. I can't praise Wendy enough. My daughter loves going to her 'Dendy's' and is sad when we are off for the school holidays. Wendy does a whole range of different activities from going out to playgroups and the library to staying home and doing lots of sticking, colouring, reading and playing. When the weather permits, there are a whole host of different things outside in the garden to do. Wendy also invites parents and siblings along to different occasions. Last year we had the releasing of the butterflies that the children had watched develop from egg to butterfly and in the summer we all went on a trip to the West Midlands Safari Park. When my daughter is with Wendy, I know that she is having fun, is happy and safe. I can safely say I would recommend Wendy to any parent considering a child minder.
