Hello family!
My name is Pamela (the kids call me Pam Pam). I am an OFSTED registered childminder, fully qualified and fully insured. I am mum to a happy, confident and sociable primary school girl. I am also founder of Our Play Days, a unique childminding service which provides an educational yet fun environment for infants and toddler. I work with my mother and sister (both OFSTED registered), together we provide one-on-one support for children and their families, geared towards preparing children for school and life.
As a mum, I understand it can be difficult to find appropriate care for your child. There are so many factors to consider…location, services, opening times, environment, price. I was a successful business development consultant for 20 years but decided to change careers when my daughter was born. I wanted to ensure she was getting the best childcare in the best environment.
I am very patient and nurturing with each child. I am a firm believer that children need to know that they can achieve anything, which is why I constantly praise and motivate each child. I am energetic and enthusiastic, and I will make every day an exciting adventure for your little one. I like to build a strong relationship with each family, and each child is welcomed into my family.
I pride my setting in providing much needed services to help parents. For example, we are one of the only settings to provide sleep training for infants and toddler as part of our standard Fees!
FACILITIES
I provide a ‘home away from home’ for your child – a safe, homely, clean environment where your child can learn, relax and play. I live with my daughter in a spacious home with a wide variety of toys. Children are encouraged to borrow books and toys from my 'Toy Library'. Your child will paint, draw, do arts and crafts, cook, sing, dance, and make music. We have weekly World Studies classes where together we discover different countries and cultures, and sample foods. I organise outings to local parks, playgrounds, museums, farms, libraries, soft play centres, and theatres.
CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Inspired heavily by the Reggio Emilia Approach to child development (and incorporating aspects of Montessori and Steiner learning styles), I offer a unique service and a personalised development program allowing your child to flourish based on exploration, repetition, and assessing your child’s individual needs. I use music and singing as a learning tool. I am heavily influenced by nature and seasonality. I often find ways of incorporating what we see and do outside into inside learning, especially in our weekly forest school sessions.
I prepare a 'personal learning strategy' for each regular child in my care which is based strictly on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and current curriculum requirements.
FOOD
All meals and snacks are provided. I really enjoy cooking. I prepare at least 70% of food and snacks from scratch and use organic ingredients. I don’t add salt, and I rarely use artificial sugar. I supply a wide variety of dishes to get children used to different flavours and textures. Children of all ages are encouraged to help in the preparation of food to learn about nutrition and cooking skills. Contact me for a copy for 'Food & Nutrition Policy' and menu plans.
My Experience
Being a mother has definitely given me invaluable experiences. However, I have experience working with children in different capacities since the age of 17 (many moons ago). I taught children aged 5 to 12 to play the piano, and have I volunteered reading to children for various projects. For the past 4 years I have run children’s play groups, parties and events. I have babysitting experience for children of all ages.

Pamela at Our Play Days was our last-minute hero as we had a nursery place for our daughter starting after our return to work date – so we needed a local childminder to bridge the gap.
In those eight weeks our one-year-old absorbed way more than we could have imagined. Pamela switched on her imagination and helped develop her speaking, eating and communication skills. She also encouraged self-feeding, baking, drawing, singing, dancing, and all sorts of other creative skills we hadn’t attempted with her yet! She was always excited to arrive every morning and often didn’t want to leave at the end of the day!
Our daughter had the absolute time of her life in Pamela’s care and if we lived closer we would have loved to keep using her. The daily debrief at pick-up time and the photos help also reassure us as parents that our child was happy.
We are keeping in touch with Pamela to share our daughters development with her and maybe there is a time in the future where may need her again.
We can’t applaud her more loudly.

Pamela has been looking after my son as a childminder for the past couple of months and we could not be happier with her. She is providing such a supporting and nourishing environment for him on a daily basis. As soon as we met with Pamela we knew that she would provide something out of the ordinary. With great attention to detail, from the organic food, to the playful educational activities and well planned outings, Pamela and her team are providing outstanding care for our boy.
Pamela is well spoken and we feel that she truly cares for the best of our son which is such a comfort when it comes to your first child starting childcare. We also get daily reports on how the day has been, what he has eaten, how he has slept etc and pictures capturing this.

Pamela and her team are wonderful and my little one is absolutely thriving there. Pamela is kind and thoughful and very respectful of my child and the other children.
Pamela is also very focused on the children's development, which is very important to me, and she has helped significantly with my LO's walking and comprehension; she is able to confidently adapt activities to the different development levels. They have lots of fun and Pamela thinks creatively to come up with ideas we can join in such as taking seeds home to grow.
Pamela is very organised and responsive to my needs as a parent which must be tricky with lots of parents' and children's requirements to balance.
Pamela consistantly goes above and beyond, for example she recently invited all the children and parents over at Easter for a egg hunt and party food. She had gone to so much effort to decorate the house etc, it was so thoughtful.
Every morning my child giggles when they see Pamela's front door, they light up when they see Pamela, and never wants to leave in the evening!
Thanks to Pamela I had a smooth return to work and didn't have to worry about my child. I knew they were safe and happy...and the lovely pictures I received of my LO everyday really helped.

Pamela is new to the area and has been babysitting for us recently, she's great, lovely with the kids, they took to her straight away. We are hoping to work with Pamela over the longer term with some child minding initially on an ad hoc basis, but maybe more. We recommend her and wish her well growing her business.
