My Summary
About Me
28 years old. Based in LS16 but cover Leeds / Bradford and surrounding areas. Self-employed nanny and tutor
My Experience
I have had experience working with children since I was 17 years old. I went to Leeds City college in 2012-2014 and gained a Level 3 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education, this is where I developed skills of looking after children between the ages of 0 months- 5 years. During this time I had a job as a Nursery Nurse where I was in the baby room (0 months- 1 year) where my duty was to provide all-around care such as bottle feeding, changing nappies, spoon feeding, giving medicine etc.
I was also in the 2-Year-old room where I was providing care to children of the ages of 2, where I was writing observations and providing additional care to those with Special Educational Needs including autism and down syndrome where I was 1:1.
In the three-four-year-old room, I was always making sure the children were never bored and always had something to do, meeting their individual needs. Such as if a child was really into dinosaurs I would make sure there were some dinosaurs to play with!
During my Level 3, I was selected to go out to Germany for 3 weeks on placement. In Germany, I looked at their culture and the way the education system works compared to England. I was at the school by 6 am and normally finished at 5 pm each day, I observed the classes daily of children aged 5-11. I also interacted with the children using basic German language.
I have also been placed in my placements throughout my studies, this includes a private primary school and public primary schools. During these placements, i have worked with the ages of 3-11. I have learned many skills, especially behaviour management control of knowing different behaviour management techniques and working with those who may find school extremely difficult.
Whilst at College and University I have had a variety of paid jobs including an out of school club and summer camp. At the out of school club, looking after children up to the age of 11 where I was providing wrap around care such as meals, games and outdoor activities and making sure all children were safe and happy whilst in my care. At the summer camp (Summer 2017) the ages of the children were 3-17, here I am an Assistant Manager, where I provided different sporting and arts and crafts activities and managing my own team of staff. I have also looked after some of these children for parents outside of work.
I then went on to become a Primary School Teacher and have a teaching degree and have been teaching for 5 years. I recently left teaching to become a full time nanny and tutor.
