About Me
I am an experienced English Teacher with 30 years of tuition experience and was Head of English for 10 years. I am now self-employed on a contract basis and have availability for days, evenings and weekends.
I have a wealth of experience in SEND teaching and specialise in ASD, ADHD and those with SEMH concerns and have worked with many children with disabilities ranging from cerebral palsy, brain damage, severe and debilitating epilepsy to PDA, dyslexia and so on. My philosophy is to work on the basis that every child is unique and the key to unlocking their potential is to find out exactly what they need to boost their own confidence and self-esteem to ensure that they feel that they have a mindset where they can succeed.
My Experience
I have 30 years of teaching experience, many of which are in local schools and I was Head of English for 8 years. Over the years I have privately tutored Independent School Entry Examinations for 11+, 12+, 13+ and Common Entrance ,11+ and 12+ exams, KS2 English and Maths, Year 6-7 transition skills, KS3 English, GCSE English and English Literature for a variety of exam boards and A' Level English Literature.
I now work primarily (but not solely) with SEND students with a whole range of issues from dyslexia and dyspraxia to ASD, ADHD, ADD and SEMH. I set up and ran the gifted and talented and Aim Higher programmes at one of the schools where I taught when it was a new Government initiative.
I really enjoy teaching as a profession and very early on, I realised that it is my duty to treat every child in my care as if they are my own child and that they are getting the teaching and learning experience that I would like my own children to have. It is my goal to ensure that every child becomes the best that they can be and that every child gets the best education which is appropriate to their individual needs.

I am able to be creative with my timetable to ensure that every child I am teaching gets a time that is suitable for their needs.
