About Me
Hi, my name is Emma and I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I live in Downend (BS16) with my husband Mark who if also an Ofsted registered childminder. We have both been registered with Ofsted since 2007. We have places available on some days for all ages and can accommodate full-time hours (minimum 9 hours per day for two days, 8 hours per day for three or four days). Government funding available for eligible children. Before and after school places available but ONLY for children attending CHRISTCHURCH Infants or Junior Schools in Downend. We do a pre-school drop off and pick up to all local pre-schools.
Our house is always warm and welcoming with plenty of space to play and have fun. Children learn through play in a relaxed fun environment where they can feel secure, and valued. We have a large purpose built playroom and garden and provide a wide range of age appropriate toys, books and activities, whilst following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. We go to local toddler and childminding groups, also trips to the library, local parks, softplay and we are members of Slimbridge WWT and Westonbirt Arboretum and the children regularly go to all these places.

My Experience
We have lots of experience with children of all ages including special dietary requirements. We have two grown up daughters of which now only one lives at home. We have been childminding for over 17 years and parents for 24 years.
My Qualifications
We have been CRB / DBS checked and both have CACHE Level 3 Diploma's in Home-Based Childcare and recent Paediatric First Aid. As a part of the local South Gloucestershire network we have to attend regular training and take every opportunity to update our skills.
My Availability
Currently we have nothing available, a full time Monday to Thursday place will not become available until at least April 2026. Minimum two days a week for nine hours a day or eight hours a day for three or four days. Please note: we do not run a waiting list, we only fill a place when we know a place is becoming free.
We work Monday thru Thursday 7:30am to 5:30pm and will work outside these hours on an occasional basis.

Emma and Mark have had my daughter for a while now and she has grown so much from being there. She is thriving with them. It is a very caring environment and would highly recommend!

My son started the beginning of this year with Emma and her husband Mark. Since being their my son has been much more settled than in a busy environment of an afterschool club. Mark and Emma are kind and caring with a great sense of humour. They are both very welcoming in their home. My son enjoys his time here in the mornings before school and afterward. It is a lovely clean, friendly and warm environment providing a great service at great rates, I'm very grateful for mark and Emma being my sons childminder and would defiantly recommend them.

Emma and Mark began childminding our baby daughter aged only 7 and 1/2 months back in February 2017. Since then she has been with them 5 days a week 10&1/2 hours a day.
Our daughter has come on leaps and bounds since being with Emma and Mark. As a first time parent, I was wary about leaving my daughter with “strangers” but after the initial period of letting go I realized that we had made the right decision.
I have been extremely happy with the care she has received. Emma's home is always welcoming, clean and well organized and our daughter has great fun playing with all the toys available and with the other children in her care.
They have been very helpful in writing a diary about our daughters day and updated feeding schedule and this has been a support to us in the first few months. We are very happy with the level of professionalism and childminding standards and would not hesitate to recommend.
