About Me
I am a mother of four grown children; I have nine grandchildren, as well as 1 great grand child!
I had the privilege to be at the birth of both a grandson and granddaughter. Having worked for the Council for thirty eight years I was fortunate to take early retirement and redundancy in November 2011. During my retirement I helped to look after my grandchildren whilst their parents went to work, I also helped with childcare for other mums I knew too. I realised that it was necessary to be qualified if I was caring for other people's children; so I did my home base childcare EYFS training with Pacey and became a qualified child practitioner. Because I did not start my practice straight away, I did a refresher online with Barnardos and was successfully fully qualified in 2014.
I am delighted to say that TLC is a family run business, as well as myself, my daughter and daughter in law also help run the setting. Both of them having qualifications in childcare as well as over a decade of experience in SEND,teaching in education,and nursery settings, they bring Great skills, experience and professionalism to TLC to give support to our children of all ages.
My business has been thriving now for the last 10 years plus. Through the growth and development of my business; I now receive children throughout the day to help support families with Homebased childcare, school runs as well as after school child care for working parents. I have been Ofsted checked with approved with scores of good, with outstanding for my setting! My latest OFSTED review is available online for my 2023 report.
My passions outside of children is working with the isolated, the vulnerable and the especially the elderly. Once a month I help out with an over 50s group doing art and crafts, flowers arrangements and other activities. I also help out with refreshments to ensure they have a good wholesome meal before they leave.
My hobbies are swimming and going to the gym, I also enjoy travelling and eating out. I am a Christian and attend my local church services on a weekly basis.
My Experience
Having brought up children of my own, I believe I have the experience wisdom and understanding in looking after children of all ages. This as well as the ever changing and diverse world our young people live in, my grandchildren certainly help me to keep up with what's going on. While at my setting I do ensure that I follow the EYFS curriculum to help child development and preparation for transition into preschool and beyond, as well as continual training and refreshers in safeguarding, first aid, food hygiene and much more.

I came across Sonia a year or so ago for school drop off and pick ups. She has always been very professional , my son's absolutely love her. She has also been very helpful and thoughtful towards any extra help I have needed regarding the children. She communicates very easily and well. And tries her utmost to help in any way that she can. We have built a special bond with Sonia. She is a absolutely wonderful childminder.
